Does anyone have problems with there front left tweeter in their 02 max?

My friend and I have the same car and have noticed that at times the front left tweeter seems blown and then days later sound ok. This is the standard stereo and not the Bose system.

speaker problem

I have had a similar problem, but it sounded like it was the front driver side woofer. At times, it seems blown and distorted but usually sounds fine. I am near the end of my warranty and the dealer service people say if they can't replicate the problem, then it won't be fixed.

My Bose system seems the same, the front left tweeter does squat. I am very dissapointed with the mid and high range of this system. There are no clear highs, I may have to go listen to another stock Bose system and compare the sound. If they all stink has anyone added better tweeters?

I added Pioneer tweeters, made a world of difference. The cost was 50 for a pair, I ripped out the Bose ones, wired the new ones up with a cap on each, and double stuck taped em to the pillars. The Bose ones are a 1/4", that's why they suck.

Did you keep the stock Bose head unit? Is it really a noticable difference? What OHM load are the tweeters?

I know you've written most of it here but it would be nice to have a little write-up on how you did this (e.g. how do you remove the pillars, what speakers you used, what cap value, etc.). Thanks in advance.

Believe me when I tell you this is NOT a tweeter issue. I originally thought the same thing and even had my dealer replace my stock Bose tweeter with a new one. The problem was not resolved. You are experiencing the same problem as the rest of us with the Clarion 6 disc head unit in your car. Clarion had a manufacturing defect of some type that causes this problem, almost always on the driver's side.

You can confirm that this is the issue by waiting to experience the problem, switching the balance to the drivers side, turning up your volume and listening carefully to the tweeter, the driver's woofer and the driver's side passenger woofer. They will all have low volume and distorted output. Also, this problem always happens with CD's, never the radio.

Bring your car to the dealer and then wait 8 weeks for a back ordered head unit.

Sorry!

speaker problem

I took my Max by the dealer and had them listen to it while it was acting up. They ordered a new woofer to replace the one that occassionally sounds distorted. The service guy said that it may be a bad reciever unit and if the new woofer does not fix the problem, they will try the reciever next. Mine is the non Bose factory unit.
