Eagle Talon?

Can some one tell me do that make A SC for these things Cause this guy just smoked me as if I was standing still and all I heard from his engine from the take off was this whistling noise. Like Wsssssh. Then I smelled his rich exhaust. I'm am in no way proud to be flamed by a Talon. Now if he was SC then I'll maybe understand. We went from a dead start at a light and I felt as if my foot were on the gas. Or something!!!! 2k2 max Bone stock.

Talons were either normally aspirated or turbocharged...no S/C.

If it was a Talon TSI it was turbocharged and could be AWD. Not sure what kind of turbo upgrades are out there for those, but I have seen ratings of 12 second cars with over 300 hp (modified).

They came stock with 220 hp..in the 2nd and 3rd gen's. Not hard to get another 50-100 hp.. and they were light as well

So 270 HP and 2700 lbs will do alot

Not sure if the guy was honest, but he seemed to be. When I had my trans fluid flushed I saw he had a Talon TSI Turbo and asked if he ever took it to the track. He said he goes quite a bit and has no performance upgrades, but does have suspension upgrades. He said that he is able to run high 13's in the quarter stock. His turbo is about to go so he is going to be upgrading the turbo. He said his 1/8 times are low to mid 8's.

The turbo talons can be out standingly fast...I had a friend with one that ran I think 12.1's with 16psi boost...Ive even seen "extreme" ones that do in the 9's.

I would like to find...

a good condition '91 Eclipse GS-T or GSX (Talon's cousins) to have as a weekend builder car...of all the Lasers, Talons and Eclipses, I like that body style the most...

That car is capable of hitting low 10's high 9's. Drop your superstreet magazine and pick up turbo mag. you might learn something.

1990-1994 Talons ran the quarter in 15.0 seconds stock.

Add boost controller, exhuast, and intake and you could hit 13 easily.
Hitting 12s on the stock turbo is only another 1000 dollars away. If it was AWD, it can get a 1.6 second 60' time. They are nothing to play around with. 1995-1998 models require more money to make fast due to smaller Garrett T-25 turbo's but are still potent.

he was not honest... I had a 93 Eclipse GSX (all-wheel drive, turbo) and there is no way it would have made it into the 14s. My 2k2 6-speed would have killed it BAD!

Anyway, there are plenty of aftermarket turbos for eclipse/talon for cheap that would push it below 14. The guy you raced had to have upgraded from stock.

It would be REALLY close to high 14's, but for about 1k in mods, it will smoke almost any Maxima this side of S/C'ed... Stock, no, but it is REALLY easy to push into the 13's with a couple mods...

I didn't really want to run with him. Don't like messing with coupes that much smaller than the max but I thought I might see what he had and then I heard the whistle when he rev it up and I looked over like what the hell does he have in there. Next I know I'm behing him damn damn damn. As Florida evans said

That whistle is most likely a BOV and yes, that is a sign of trouble...

This brings back some fond memories.

I had the same one 2 cars before my max. My 1992 model was still considered first generation but was the first year they came without the popup lights and had a bit of a body styling change. It had 195 hp stock and weighed in at around 3100 pounds (turbo with fwd weighed 2700 pounds) -- I still have my brochure. In 1995 the second generation came out and if I remember correctly they changed platforms and came out with bigger fatter looking car that had a bit more horses and a bit heavier (210hp I believe).

Checking the dsm.org faq's, they seem to run mid 14's to low 15's stock. You can mod the cars like crazy however and make them go quite fast. See here for some times. Its too bad I was ignorant of the concept of "modding" a car back then. Blame it on the internet or my lack of

I ran down a couple of talons/eclipes a few years ago. I
heard that they do break easily and they had masive body
flex. never drove one. i thought the dash was too damn big.
and as a prject car. i will take any year of nissan 240sx.
there is a first gen in japan running 8's on a damp track.
it ws in super street last year. and i have driven the silvia
powered 240sx. with the right mods they will spank even the
mighty Skyline. i just wish the max was rear wheel drive.
