Molded Wood Dash Kits

Has anyone installed a molded wood dash kit on a 5th gen with a blonde/tan interior? What color wood matches the best?

Unfortunately there aren't that many molded "wood" patterns to choose from. I have the english burl.

I just got a molded kit (though in aluminum) from AutoDash.com and I'm pretty happy with it. I think they offer wood kits, too. The fit is good and install is easy, just take your time.

I wanna get the same kit too.. But I aleady have the stock wood since I'm a GLE. Did yours cover the whole thing? You think If I put it on it'll cover all the wood? Even on the door?

The delivery time for mine was slowed because of some customs issues between Canada (where the kits are made) and coming in the U.S. AutoDash said that was unusual and I tend to believe them. The kits are made to order but it's normally only supposed to take 4-5 working days to get it to you depending on where you live.

Regarding fit, I think it looks 99% factory. My In-laws-to-be have a 2K GLE with the factory wood trim, so I've had a chance to compare. One place I noticed that their kit covered that mine doesn't is the small piece between the power window switches on the driver door. It's a really thin piece that might stand out if you covered the wood with aluminum. Otherwise, I think the fit would work fine, especially since the AutoDash kit covers some pieces (the dash vents near the doors, the top vents above the radio) that the factory kit doesn't.

The factory wood dash kit does look less plasticly than the Autodash english burl kit. I will give the factory that over the aftermarket kit. I like Joshua's real wood daskh kit, but I don't think flat dash kits look as good as a molded one. I wish they had a real wood molded dash kit.

I found a really nice looking dash kit on goldplated.com. It looks really nice and even has the pieces that go on the controls on the steering wheel. I've never heard anyone mention that site, so if anyone has let me know about product quality/service, etc.

Personally, I don't like the kits with 40+ pieces to cover everything. Looks tacky IMO. I think 20-30 pieces is more than enough. As for molded kits, I'm probably going to end up getting one, and as fas as I have found, Woodview is the only one that makes one for my 2K2. Autodash seems to have the best price on it, around $240 for a 15 piece kit.

I agree 100% too much wood is real tacky don't need all that flat wood in our car it really takes away from the interior rather than complement it. $240 for a molded dash kit really? Were's the link I got my kit from woodview as well but they were only offering a 9 piece kit.

The AutoDash kit is 9 pieces. It's not over-the-top.

Are the extra pieces over the 9 molded pieces cardboard like the Air vent pieces?

The extra pieces in that AutoDash kit from the 9-piece kit I got are these: clock piece, instrument cluster, door accents (4), cup holder, switch, rear cup holder and lower cup holder.

IS that a molded 15 piece kit for a 2K2? IF it is, I am all over it. I wanted the brushed alluminum. I am dying to find one!
