Wash them like you would your car. Wax them afterwards.

Check Cleaning sticky for more BS details.

I would wash and wax them the same as you do your car. But I would not use a pure Carnauba, since Carnauba won't stand up well to the heat. I would use a synthetic polymer like Klasse or Zaino which would stand up well.

I would not use a harsh wheel cleaner, just regular car wash soap.

If you have some free time get a can of metal polish cream. The little 6-7 oz jar or whatever it is. Eagle One, Blue Magic or something similiar anything will work. It should say for chrome, aluminum, or mag wheels. Not only will they make your wheels shine like Lil Wayne but theyll be easier to keep clean in the future .

DO NOT DO THAT!!!!!!!!!

Polished wheels on the Max are just a bright finish, like a clear coat...metal polish will tear the crap out of the finish....

Here is what you should do....

There are two types of cleaners for rims. Some that are acidic based and some that are Ph balanced. The acid ones are spray and wash. The Ph balanced require some ammount of agitation such as a brush or a nagging girlfriend who cant understand why it take 3 hours for me to detail my car lol!!! But yeah I use the Ph balanced because I do not want acid on my rims because I have a small scratched spot that I do not want any more chemicals on other than environmental fall out. For a good spot to learn more visit the below links.

For all your cleaning needs ----> http://properautocare.com/

And I have used carnuba wax on them and had no problems. But I am going to use Zaino shortly.

Thanks for the warning jjs. I have always washed them by hand and then simply polished them with a dry cloth, but I shined them once. Thankfully that was the only time.

no problem!! Sorry for 'yelling' but with the cost of those OEM rims (as with the AE rims), messing them up would suck!!

ive got an AE and ive used blue magic all purpose metal cleaner/polisher and ive never had a problem. i usually wash them with the car wash then use the polisher after they are dried. ive also used neverdull and i think that works better than the blue magic. i however dont use any spray products on them.

I don't know about the AE rims but my 17" SE rims are clear coated and I treat them like regular paint. I don't use harsh wheel cleaners as they are not needed, just car soap. I wax the rims regularly and they look great.
