On what grounds could he have give you a ticket? I thought disturbing of the peace with music only applied like after 10:30pm or something. Can cops give u a ticket for your system whenever they'd like?

depending on local ordinances, yes they can. A lot of towns/cities now have "excessive noise"-type laws that define how many decibels your car can "emit" and the laws are usually vague enough that the sound can be coming from your radio/exhaust/intake, etc..

and I say GOOD!

No, that's not cool. It's really not that loud or annoying. The sound is for what, 10-20 seconds at the most unless your sitting outside somewhere for minutes blasting your subs.

so it's ok to break the law as long as you don't do it in one place very long? Or, it's ok to annoy the hell out of people as long as you only do it for 10-20 seconds at a time?

That's cool... then you won't mind if I slap you in the head for 10-20 seconds and then I'll move along

Every day cars go by my house and have radio/exhaust so loud I can hear it over a 14,000 BTU air conditioner. I call the cops and offer to have them sit in my driveway to ticket... hey, it keeps my taxes low.

thats one of the shi*tiest things ive ever heard. callin f*ckin pigs just because someones making noise? were on a forum that talks about aftermarket parts and systems, and your calling the cops on people who have those things?

hope youre real f*ckin proud of yourself...

but calling cops "pigs" is ok

Let me get this right... I have a 3 year old and a newborn (7 days old - YEAH for me!) and an air conditioner no more than 15 from any bedroom door. I regularly hear car radios/exhaust going down my street loud enough to hear over the A/C and loud enough to wake a sleeping baby, and you're saying I'm the sh*tty one for calling the cops?

Do whatever you want with aftermarket parts and systems, but if I can hear it in my house over an A/C, get the checkbook ready, baby!

It never fails to amaze me how ignorant some people can be. The houses you drive by have people who don't want to hear you... GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD! And like I said in the NE forum a few minutes ago, before you start screaming about your 'right' to make noise you should also realize your rights end where mine begin. So if you want to have a system that kicks a**, go ahead and enjoy it in the privacy of your own home. When you hit the neighborhood streets with it turned up to 10 bazillion, you're violating other people's right to enjoy some peace and quiet.

I'm with you dude. Loud stereos on freeways are cool. But turn that crap down in residential areas. No one else wants to hear it.

I wouldn't personally call the police to pull a car over. But I can see why you would if loud cars were a common occurrence.

The funny thing is that when I was 16-22 and I didn't own a house, I blared my 4 10" subs EVERYWHERE I went. Now that I own a home, I get really touchy about people blaring their stereos in my neighborhood. Not only is it extremely annoying, but after a period of time, it could hurt the resale value of homes in the area.

And after the WTC incident, I would hope that one would see police officers as something other than "pigs". Maybe if we, as citizens, showed them more respect, there wouldn't be so many ******** robocops out there. Every time I get pulled over, I am super cool with them and we usually end up striking a conversation. It doesn't get me out of the ticket, but there really is no point in being a jerk about it.

I agree. It has to do with respect, which some dont seem to get.

For those that do not, think of the 1 thing that torques you off. Dont you hate it when someone does that XXX thing?

It kills me that when I drive, have my windows up, and some "basser" comes up to a light and has it "cranked" enough that stuff is vibrating in MY car. Why am I supposed to endure that for 10-20 seconds? Are you so shallow and disrespectful that you cant turn it down while people are in a gathering I.E. stoplights, traffic jam, driving in a residential area, so on and so forth. If you have to have your tunes up high...go to a highway, roll down the windows and enjoy.

I know there are some great systems and people compete with them. But to subject others to "your right" when it IS a distubance, is no more fair then when I do XXX to you or around you.

I am referring to the thugs that bump their stereo at all times that live three houses down from me.

I know you weren't referring to me, but Colonel said it best with this statement.....

At 19 you won't understand yet. You still have a lot of growing up to do. We were all like you when we were 19. That's the thing that you don't understand when you're young, is that older people have been there and done that, and we moved on.

And I'm not even that old. At 24, I realize what it is to grow up and I realize that I have a ways to go.

And I doubt 2k2wannabe is jealous of your car. Cuz he paid for his own car.

ok, what if you have idiot neighbors that mow their law every sunday at 8am, thats not any better than having us bump our system for 10 seconds. i cant stand the drone of a lawnmower for an hour. and when i get a house and i hear a system, i will say to myself " what a nice system, i remember when i used to do that". i wont cry about it like a baby. and my baby sister loves my system, she dances to it, so i know it doesnt bug babies.

Hey slick and rob,

2K2, Asu and us other "old" farts are not trying to rain on your parade. You are missing the point. It is about consideration and timing, not how people should not get tourqued off if you want to bump your subs. I blast my Damn Yankees and Eminem at full all the time - but not in a residential neighborhood, or at a stoplight - basically anywhere that I KNOW it's going to annoy someone else - On interstate or going at 65 plus on back roads - all I scare is mother nature.
I've got 2 little ones as well and until you've had a 2 hr battle getting a baby down - only to hear them start screaming cuz 2 ricers are having a decibal war in front of your house, don't even say it's only for 10 secs. That's all it takes but it usually isn't only 10 secs. Loud noises above 80 decibels IS NOT GOOD for young ears - you can cause longterm damage. Babies are especially susceptable because they don't understand the concept of noise - it just increases their heartrate.

We're not trying to slam you here. Just stop pumping up and being all "Well I do what I want - **** everyone else". We are all proud of that gonad pumping sound we can get in our cars - just like you. It's a lot cooler though if you pump when it's right. It's a select group that looks over bobbing their head going "cool". About 3% - most everyone else just thinks it's rude and you didn't get raised right. Better to have a hint of that distinct high treble and sub-bass and appease everyone (rudeness gone and makes the "select" group wonder what else it can do) - may get digits out of it 'cuz you can actually talk.

Alright I'm done. You really will change your mind about this over time, but still keep the desire to bump - just more selective where.

Re: well

where do I start???

rob van dam:
-This has nothing to do with age. This has to do with respect. I think it's ok to wipe dog crap on door handles of 2001 AE Maximas (kidding other AE owners, this is to prove a point to our young, ignorant friend). I'll only wipe crap on your car once or twice per day, and it doesn't hurt you - all you have to do is wipe it off. Since I think it's ok I guess you'll just have to live with it. Or would that pi** you off enough to do something about it? Well, I'm not chasing down cars that are too loud... that's what the cops and noise ordinances are for.
-Don't you have a 2001 AE, Charcoal Gray SE? And exactly how is that better than an 2002 Grey Lustre SE, that I paid for?
-Also, I'm curious, at what age would you consider me 'old'?

Slickrick:
-you're an idiot. That mower example is why I talked to my neighbor to find what time would be ok to mow. He and I agree on a reasonable earliest/latest time. That's the definition of good neighbor.
-and just because your sister likes your music...yippee! I don't want it coming in my house as you drive by. Why is this so hard to understand? Just because you can't see the people you're offending, or because you're "only bump[ing] our system for 10 seconds" makes it ok? Don't be an a** and think about someone else for a change.
-I'm not crying like a baby, I'm asking cops to sit on my street and do speed/noise checks. Hey, they make money and it's quieter for me... that's win/win as far as I'm concerned.

colonel/asu:
-thanks... this has to do with respect and maturity, two things our 19 year old community member is lacking.

By the way, calling a 19 year old immature isn't necessarily intended to be an insult. When I was 19, I drank every night, partied late, and blared my music in my apartment and my car. We have all been where you guys are right now and we know that there is no way you are going to change. 5 years ago, I would be saying the EXACT same thing you guys are......

Also, I mow my lawn at 10AM. I would LOVE to do it at 5:00AM when I wake up, but that would be inconsiderate.

want to hear something really irritating...

if that dog in the pic below happens to see you walk by my house or your cat. you can expect to hear a s**tload of barking. i mean it even irritates the hell out of me. but at least she has a "real" bark and not them little yippy barks. now them will drive you insane.

she is my equalizer... make all the noise you want and at 2 in the morning when everyone is sleeping, i'll tell Onyx there is a "kitty cat" outside and let her out to wake up the hood!!!

and she knows what a "kitty cat" is

j/k i try not to let her bark , but when other people don't even try to shut their dog up it freakin kills me.

bottom line: all noises that disturb you will irritate you.

ah yes, but MUCH less maturity, grace, courtesy, manners, growth, etc.

Even disgustingly rich a-holes are still a-holes...and remember, no matter how much you have, there will ALWAYS be someone with more, so shelve the 'jealous' of anything you have mentality...unless you were held back yet another year in preschool...which would make it how many so far?

ok, not every1 has perfect neighbors like you do. just like we all dont have perfect 19 year olds who drive their honda accord 4 cyliders at 15 mph down the street. and you call us immature, yet you blatently called me an idiot. whos the immature 1 here? were not here to bump our systems and wake up people. when i used to come home at odd hours of the night, i would put my windows up and turn off my music, i know exactly where ur coming from on this 1. but at 5 pm when im coming home from work or whatevr if i wanna play my music i will. now i have no tolerance for those ricers who speed down my street just cuz they have a loud exhaust. and yeah ga teach is a great engineering school, followed by UF where i go.

Different strokes for different folks....that's all. I don't think that there is a right answer to this.

By the way, this all started with him playing his stereo at Sonic, which, to me, is a hell of a lot more acceptable than playing in someone's neighborhood. Personally, I catch myself with my stereo up once in a while in parking lots too.......

And Rob, you are further solidifying the points these people are making. You may or may not be a thug, may or may not be inconsiderate, may or may not be a jerk, may or may not be respectful, may or may not be intelligent.

BUT, we can only get impressions of who you are and what you represent from what you type. And from this thread, you do not come off as an individual with respect for others. You come off as defensive, disrespectful and cocky. Whether this is a true representation of you nobody knows. We can only evaluate what you say/type. Using cuss words, bragging about money, bragging about your car being better and all that stuff is just "puffing". Nobody can verify it, nobody really wants to.

But hey, what ever floats your boat. If you have life figured out and have the answers, then yes you are doing much better than most of us at 19. But my suspicions are that if asked about this in five years your tune will be probably different.

And yes to evaluate the original point of this thread, Sonic is a better place...or rather a lesser of two evils if given a choice.
