When to Clean throttle body?
#3
When I had my '99 SE, I would clean it just prior to each oil change and it needed it every time. Now with a 2k3 SE, I plan to do the same thing but have no idea how I am going to clean the extra inner valve that opens at higher rpm. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Cleaned mine at 40K. FYI, if you're using Super Unleaded in your Max, as Nissan specifies, it will be clean. When I clened mine, it hardly neede any cleaning. It's a simple procedure, acutally it's simpler on 5th Generations, than on 4th Generations. Do keep in mind, if you do use Super Unleaded(93 Octane), it will rarely need cleaning.

I just cleaned mine. I have about 39700 on my 2000. I usually put in 93 unleaded... but once in a long while.. I will put in 89s. The throttle body was not too bad. But bad enough that sometime my car will shut down. it took me about 1 hour to finish the job, because I was trying to follow the 4th gen instruction. but realized that I don't need it, 5th gen is easier to do. The can of cleaner cost about 2.99 (forgot what brand is it). Easy job, just few bolt to remove. Result... Very rough starts, that's probably because the left over cleaner in the throttle body, after about 20 sec. Total better.. I drove it for a short while, the 1st gear to 2nd gear is definitly smooooooooooother!, and no more jerking. If you have those sympton, clean it!
