Thanks for the kind words.
I just updated page four on the site with some new secret menu information hidden in the computer. One cool feature lets you turn on the rear mounted camera while driving.
The M45 has 5 inches less rear legroom than the Q45, so that is a car I could never own.
C& Driver tested the 2002 Q at 0-60 at 6.0 seconds.
R&T numbers tend to run a bit slower than C&D's.

They have come out with two fixes (TSB's) since then. One is a replacement accelerator pedal and a new TCM transmission control module. These are only performed if a customer complains, but I have the full TSB listing on the car. It definitely helps and is much quicker than it was. The latest trans module TSB just came out last month.

Jason your homepage is not working. I have seen your Q on a lot of sites and everytime I see It I say that I will be driving one of those some day. Until then I'm going to stick with my Maxima. I finally saw my 1st 2002 Q45 in VA a couple months ago... Actually there were 2 one was Champagne and the other was Silver. The Champagne Q had what looked to be 18" chrome after market wheel and the other looked just like your Q... Simply beautiful car

Why would anyone want to race a car like that?
I'm seriously considering it as my next car and the car that will help me settle down on racing and high speeds.
Imagine cruising at 80-100 down the freeway with the 8 gauge HID's shining on the floor and saying volume up.
V8 Highway cruiser that gets alot of looks, not a 1.4 mile racer.
It's not even marketed as a fast car, it's marketed as being innovative with the voice commands.

Jason B that's an awesome vehicle you have there. Do you have any "mods" yet?
In the higher-end lux sedan market, the Q45 is the best deal out there. Cheaper than the LS430, S-Class and both 5 and 7series BMW's and much more reliable than the Bavarians could ever wish to be. I had my share of MB's and Bimmer's. Most people don't know how much maintanence (and expensive) a Mercedes Benz's requires or how cheaply built they are beneath the surface. Ever since the merger with Chrysler, MB has gone to ****s in terms of innovation and quality. I had an S500 that needed had TWO tranny replacements in only 130k miles. The motor had all-sorts of valvetrain problems which is BS considering the car never even saw redline. It wasnt unusual for me to spend $9k a year to fix that thing for the 4 years I had it.
If I were to buy a new lux sedan, it would be the upcoming M45 or a GS430 for Infiniti's and Lexus's reputation for being well-built and reliable cars. But IMO the early 90's Q45 is the best Q45 ever and a great bargain. I'm looking for a lowmileage one that I could turbo.

I saw a black Q last week. I couldn't take my eyes off it. It pulled out behind me, probably about fifteen car lengths back. When he got about ten car lengths back I noticed that he gunned it, so I gunned it too. Im telling you, he was 10 car lengths back man....he passed me when I was going about 80-85. Boy can that car fly, and boy does it look fly too. The only car cooler than the Q, that Ive seen on the road is the new Z. Me and my buddy saw a silver Z last night. Me and my boy were up in his 2000 Integra...eh whatever thats a whole nother topic.
Has anyone seen pics of the 03 Q? it's supposed to have some changes

I will add my story here on why I ended up getting the Q.
I came from a '95 S class. Luckily, I bought an extended warranty on
the car that saved me from shelling out over $9k in repairs over 5
years!
Cars I looked at before making my decision:
2002 Mercedes S430/S500: I was very disappointed. The interior felt cheap compared to the last gen. S class. They really cheapened it. There was too much plastic, less wood, cheap looking cupholders, cheap feeling storage bins below the front seats that stick out and hit your legs, etc. The car drove nice, but there no excitement. It starts at $73k, doesn't have Hid's, doesn't have a CD changer, and honestly was bare boned. Everything is optional, of course. If you do get the optional CD changer, it goes in the TRUNK! Overall, the quality definitely is lacking on the new one.
When they came out with the new body style in 2000, (we've owned S
classes for MANY years) it just could not compare to the previous S
classes. We have watched the quality and reliability fade over the
years. So, unless you've owned them, it's hard for anyone to
understand where I'm coming from. The new S was truly a
dissapointment. The S class is NOT what it used to be. I almost
bought another new S... At the LAST minute, a friend told me about
this new Q45. The closest infiniti dealer is 70 miles away, and I
went down there and was totally SHOCKED. It really blew me away. The
deal was bacially written up at the Mercedes dealer and I pulled out.
After seeing/driving the S, and then seeing/driving the Q, it made
the decision clear.
You may also find this interesting on the new S class:
MB quality gone downhill - http://mbspy.bacosys.be/mbquality.htm
Another thing that made my decision even clearer was this site:
http://www.mercedesproblems.com - If you go there and select S430,
you can read customer complaints on the car. The same ones keep
coming up - Navigation system turning off, on-screen display not
working, electronics turning off, groan from wheels when turning,
just to name a few. Then if you select S500, (same car, just
different engine basically) you keep hearing the same problems
repeated. It's just not a reliable car.
2002 LS430: Used to have a 94 LS400. Great car, no problems. I wanted
something unique this time around and it surely is.
Audi A8 - Nice car, but a little too conservative/outdated for me. I
hear the new one will be soon.
2002 Jaguar S type: Nice, but too small. I'm still a little weary of
their reliability, even though they have improved. It looked like
they shoved a Ford radio in the dash.
BMW 7 - Nice car, but some of the materials inside are questionable.
The new 7's interior is really nice and I liked it much better than
the S, but a few things bothered me. For example, the car I took out
had the non clear-coated wood. It was already scratched up and had
small dents in it. This wasn't very re-assuring. The plastic on the
doorsills was already chipped and had another color under it that was
showing though. Things like that shouldn't happen when a car has only
500 miles on it. It's too bad they just recalled them all. I think it
has potential though.
All in all, I think the new Q45 is one of the best kept secrets for
the time being - also with giving you the most for the money.

yeah to make matters worse, there customer service is intolerable. I'd expect that spending $50 grand on a pre-owned certified car I'd get treated with a little courtesy but sometimes the technicians were a little snide and had to "dumb" down the tech talk so I could understand. I personally dont like my intelligence insulted. So after 4 years I dumped the car to some joe-schmoe in the Bronx for less than bluebook and didn't look back.
People need to understand that luxury cars can be heavy-handed on the pocketbook. Thats why I got a Max. Friends of mine all have Bimmer 5-series but who cares? I'll take the $20g I saved and I'm laughing all the way to the bank.
Jason B, it's good to see there's someone out there who can share my sentiments about MB's decent into automobile oblivion. The new S-class and BMW 7-series, long regarded as the most prestigious Bavarians that mortals could afford, are nothing more than ticking time bombs. I saw a brandnew 745i with idrive making some obnoxious engine noise and the driver apparently didnt look too happy...
