VQ30 or RB26?

VQ30 or RB26?
I was wondering? Which is really a better engine? they are
both 6 cylinders. but which is more potent? and which would you
prefer? I really want to improve the Maxima's performance, and
be a little different from everyone else. I've seen Ford Focus's
with Mustang motors.

If you're asking because you think you can just drop a RB26 motor into a Maxima, you really should try to research a bit more on both motors before asking these kinda questions. I'm not trying to be an a** or anything, but know what you are asking before asking.
BTW I believe most Focus' with Mustang motors are converted to RWD.
Maxima is FWD, with a transversly mounted V6 engine. VQ displaces either 3.0L or 3.5L depending on the year. The cast aluminum block makes it far lighter than a equivalent iron block motor. DOHC 4 valves per cylinder. 10.0:1 compression, with an open deck.
RB26 comes off the 4WD Skyline GTR, longitudinal mounted Inline 6, cast iron block, DOHC 4 valves per cylinder. displacing 2.6L. 8.5:1 compression with a closed deck.
If you want to use the RB26DETT in the Maxima, you have to use a transmission that bolts up to it, the only 2WD transmission that mounts to the RB26DETT is a RWD transmission.
Impossible? No
Ridiculously Expensive? Yes

Well 'Ridiculously Expensive' as in converting the rear suspension on the max to RWD, then custom mounting the RB and transmission .... looks like i shoulda used a more powerful word that 'ridiculously.' Help me out here guys, whats worse than ridiculously expensive?

yes i know that the focus was rear wheel drive. and yes i kow,
it will be expensive. i know that there is a guy in cali witha
4rd gen max that is rear wheel drive. just a little curious.
i guess my question was not specific enough. i was really thinking
of getting a skyline gts from motorex. well actually there is two for
sale here on island. i just wanted to know which engine has the most
potential? I LOVE INTERNET THUGS!

oh in that case. hands down RB wins. i think Nissan was testing the VQ30 for racing purposes and its definitely had potential, but the block fails once it reaches the 600hp envelope. I think the VQ blocks literally cracked at around 560 something HP. As for the RB26, the block itself is proven to withstand 1000+HP.

Anyways, how can you compare a Skyline GT-S to a Maxima? If you want performance, go for the GT-S. Is it a R33 or R34 you are looking at? Is it turbo? Not all GT-S are turbocharged. If you are looking at a R34 GT-S, then you are looking to spend a whole lot more money than a Maxima will ever cost you. So I assume you are looking at a R33.
So let's compare:
2k3 Maxima: $25-28 grand, V6, NA, 255 HP, FWD, brand new sub-luxury.
1995? R33 GT-S: $30K+, I-6, Single Turbo (or NA), 250 HP (or 180 NA), RWD, 8 year old sports car, no luxury.
Totally different cars man. You decide which you want.

you guys are toooo funny. LOL. Thanks a lot. it's funny,
when i lived in japan all i cared about was the women. I
really didn't get into street racing until i moved to Hawaii.
but anyway, i was looking at the GT-s single turbo. But they want
way too much for it. something like33K. I love the max. even though
it feels like a whale to me. i think i will wait for a turbo
kit for it. My wife will not let me have a coupe right now.
something about kids.

Can't wait until they release a super car with a VQ35DETT. Will be very interesting if it ever happens The VQ is the future.
Performance wise, the king is dead. Long live the king. The RB/SR/KA/VE/VG/VH are dead. Long live the VQ/QR/VK/QG.
