Hesitation off idle

My 2003 (900 mi) seems to have a hesitation off idle when I ease into the gas, its not consistent it just happens from time to time. I had a dealer car (2002) last week and it seemed to do the same thing. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, search the board for hesitation. Do you have a 6 Speed? I have a hesitation problem too. Complain to the dealer, perhaps they will listen.

I did a search on "hesitation" and see that this has been an ongoing problem. To anyone's knowledge, have there been any updates?

Not particularly, there have been a few glimmers of hope here and there, but nothing has really apnned out. I know one guy here is pursueing Nissan on the Lemon Law. I personally have learned to drive around it and rarely feel it. Take it to your dealer and complain. I personally am not good at complaining, I tend to be too nice of a guy, which explains why I still have the problem.

I started a thread about this a while back. I took a tech on a drive and he remarked that this was not normal. However, 1 month later, the dealer advised that the word from California was this indeed is normal. I don't buy it. However, I haven't called California yet.

As others have said, it doesn't happen all of the time and if you really really ease into the gas, you can avoid it. However, I'm concerned that it's a tranny problem and now I'm only 14k from being out of warranty. Time for me to start calling I guess. Anyone have the Nissan phone number in California?

With the cooler temperatures my hesitation off idle has gone away again. Guess the max hates summer as much as I do!

Thanks for the info. I will definitely inform the dealer. After reading all the other posts I'm leaning towards the high engine bay temps. I only notice tje hesitation when I'm sitting in traffic or if the car is idling and the fans come on. In either situation I can't avoid it, even easing into the gas.

I'm still waiting on it to cool off down here to see if the problem goes away.

I too have this problem that my Dealer says is "working according to factory". Im wondering if it could be a vacuum problem. Maybe with the power brakes? Or some other vacuum problem. Im woundering if it could cause damage to the trans or axle with jerky starts.
