People get a bit carried away on this forum. It seems every topic post becomes OT really quick with stupid waste of bandwidth posts like now.

Like most threads on maxima.org or the acura threads it starts out with the Maxima beating the CL-S.

well, being an everyday nut at cl.com,no flames from me,
i will say that i believe the cars are just about dead even.
as with any 3 pedal cars, driver will make the diff.
real nice to switch cars, really evens out the field

i don't expect a video, if you are respected here, who needs a video?

next time do a real 1/4, as reaching 125 is way beyond necessary and dangerous
my .02

Videos are always good especially since it isn't a random encounter like those two. They know each other, what mods etc.. So videos will defenitely gain respect not some one sided story from a newbie. Otherwise I just beat an M5 with my Maxima. Oh wait no one respects me here and I don't have a video to prove it. It really did happen...honest!

Wow, yours sucks. I've gotten 330 with 2-3 lines left before Empty (which is the longest I'd wait before I pull into a gas station to fill up).

I'd like to see how a 3.5CL does against a 3.5L Maxima. There is a stroker kit available for the 3.2, in case you didn't know. 300hp/260torque. Considering how close the cars are stock, I'm sure the CL would pull ahead once the engines have a similar displacement, even though the CL weighs more.

WHAT IF...

So the more expensive CL-S gets to be modded while the Max stays stock? Your telling us that a CL-S with the stroker AND ONLY the stroker kit (no other mods at all...none!) gives it 300HP/260tq at the crank? How much does this "stroker" kit cost including labour? Isn't only available from that dealer in Florida? If so not really an easy mod to get??

What does a stock 6spd CL-S dyno at? Dynojet SAE corrected?
What does a stroker 6spd CL-S Dyno at with no other mods at all (not even an intake) Dynojet SAE corrected?

I was comparing displacement, not price.

Maxima wins if price is equaled.
CLS wins if displacement is equaled.

*shrug* I don't really care either way - I didn't buy a luxury coupe to race other cars. If that was my goal I would have saved a couple grand and bought a Camaro SS and modded that.

I don't have any real performance mods on my CLS, just some suspension mods because it's too much of a luxury ride from the factory - too high and too soft.

My main point was just to point out that the Maxima is running .3L greater displacement so it's easy to see why it has more torque than the 3.2L J32A2 in the low end.

Simple point of fact.

Oh and also to ask that other CL driver what's wrong that he's getting such crappy mpg.

Btw, the stroker kit runs like $2500, IIRC. The only point in mentioning it was to let you know there is one. Don't put arguments into my posts that aren't there to begin with. Thanks.

Don't you need videos of their feet also to make sure they are flooring it? AuxNuke and Jay might have just set this up to make the Max look better. You also need videos of them switching gears just to verify one of them is not granny shifting.

Respect? Who's respect are we talking about here? I believe his story and so has everyone else. Even the Acura guys are cool with it. We're talking about a Maxima and a CLS here...it's not that hard to believe.

AuxNuke buy yourself a camcorder so bugnout can respect you

There is such an obsession with the TL-S/CL-S on this board, it's unreal. I think the answer is simple: The 2K2/2K3 maxima is a wannabee TL-S, and people on this board want to make it seem that it's really on par with it when it's really not. I'm by no means saying the TL-S/CL-S are the greatest cars on earth, because they most certainly are not, but they are a step above a 2K2 maxima. Performance wise, they may be close, but with respect to class and grace, they are much apart.

hey im out of da loop. I see your TL-S has NAV. Which NAV DVD version are they up to now?

I'm hoping to hit 13's once I get the latest upgrade. Are they up to v3.00 yet? What are other Acura people running with the latest NAV update?

Thanks!

I still won't believe you. You could have edited the video or said it was your car and its not. I need to see video tape of you purchasing the car, the bank transactions, and you driving home in the car. Then I need to see someone else video taping you video taping you driving your car. We also need video tape of you uploading the video to your computer and then to a server. After all that I might believe you and respect you.
