Nissan explains why the paint keeps chipping

I just saw their new ad on TV for the 2k2/3 Maxima. It was a black Max speeding on a long stretch of highway.

As the speed went up and the guy upshifted the paint on the Max slowly chipped away from the front to the back.

At the end of the commercial the "then" black Maxima turned into a Silver Maxima...

Good explanation Nissan... SPEED!

As funny as the commercial is, it sounds to me that some advertizing person is making a mockery of our misery.

I've got 2 misterious chips/flakes on my rear bumper that just showed up. How are ya'll dealing with this? Are the dealers honoring these problems?

Unless your really "in" with the dealer mgmt, don't count on it. Paint fading and rust, however, is covered.

I'm wondering when we're gonna see the posts that parts are starting to fail and fall off!!!

In all honesty though... Not happy about the paint on my I. The hood has 2 tiny chips that appeared from nowhere. Is the paint process the same for the I35 as it is for the Maxima?

I wondered the same thing as well, since I had my Max for 9 months with no chips. But just this last weekend I found a big wicked one on the hood when I was washing it.

So don't speak too soon and knock on wood whenever you say "I haven't had any paint problems so far."

Paint chips will always exist with Nissan. My 2000 max had a bunch of them and now my 2k2 has them. Then my sister who bought a 2k2 pathfinder which has a bunch of paint chips too.

I just saw the commercial....the funny part is....the way the paint goes from black to silver is the EXACT SAME PATTERN of my paint chips.......

hmmmmmm coincidence......or consipiracy

and I have not left for work yet because traffic is nasty....there is an accident on everysingle road that I can take, and instead of going to my home branch today.....I have to go visit another branch and brave the traffic

since I'm gonna be late ANYWAY I'm still sitting at home watching the traffic reports
