Doing front brakes is it hard.

I am looking to put on my front rotors and pads and I am wondering is it hard to do. Is it hard to replace the rotors. Will I need to bleed the brakes after replace rotors and pads.

Usually its not that bad. I think its like 2-4 bolts for the brakes, but the rotors I don't have an idea. They probably come off and put on easily but thats just a thought. Check on the boards or in front of this board. They have a 'maintainence' thread on how to's. That should answer you question.

I'm a big do-it-yourselfer but I haven't had the opportunity to do the brakes, rotors yet. Also, try a search, that should do it.

Changing front pads and rotors is very easy. There are only 4 bolts you have to deal with. You'll need a C clamp or a tool to push the caliper piston back in, synthetic high temp grease for caliper pins, squeal compound for back of shims (don't use if you like brake squeal), brake bleeder kit (costs around $5.00 at car parts store) and new brake fluid. You might consider getting 2 400mm M10x 1.25 bolts (found them at Pep Boys) at car store, they are used to break old rotor loose from wheel hub. Rotors have matching holes that you screw these bolts into. This will break rotor loose w/o beating rotor with hammer. First thing to do is remove lower calipen pin bolt (these are smaller of 4 bolts. Swing caliper up and use piece of wire to hold it up. You can now remove brake pads. Now use c clamp to push brake piston back in, open brake bleeder screw so old fluid is forced into bleeder bottle then retighten.. Now take the remaining 2 large bolts, remove them and pull bracket from hub. You can now remove the rotor. Install new rotor. Reinstall bracket using 2 large bolts, install new pads in bracket with retaining clips. Remove lower caliper pin, check for wear, regrease with synthetic grease and reinstall. Remove the other caliper pin and repeat process on it. Replace this bolt. Put anti squeal compound on back of shims. Swing caliper assembly down and replace lower caliper pin bolt. Double check all 4 bolts to ensure they are tight, bleed brakes, reinstall wheel and torque to 80 ft lbs. Now do other side. It will take probably 30 to 45 minutes per wheel.
