MiniRx7 or Sr20den, Can anyone confirm if the ECU returns to 15 degrees BTDC, if the battery is disconnected for a while?

Umm.. i never took my battery off before so i would not know..

But i can assume that the setttings should NEVER change as it is the EPROM that is being adjusted...

so timing advance is done on the ECU not on the cam gears? Sorry is this is another stupid question. But i thought you adjust the cam gears to adjust the timing.... what's going on....

Not the cam gears,

the ignition is electronic and controlled by computer thus its similar to say an ELECTROMOTIVE TECII..

So you can adjust the timing by the ECU..

Let me explain..

i advanced from -1 to 3 degrees so its a plus 4 degrees advance..

AEM CAM GEARS adjust your valve open/close timing *KEY WORDS HERE*

Ignition timing adjusts your timing when the spark occurs...

The key to advancing ignition timing is to spark slightly before the pistons hit TOP DEAD CENTER.. so you maximaize your spark..

Re: 2002 ECU Upgrade

Your first wrong move was listening to Stillen. They sell Honda and Mitsubishi parts and should no longer be considered the authority on Maximas. Leave it up to your friends at Maxima.org to help you sort out your aftermarket plan of attack. Maxima.org members have spent hard earned money and precious labor hours in the pursuit of Maxima bliss.
