wireless camera
Has anyone have any experiences in wireless cameras? I am looking to get one to monitor 2002 maxima and am not sure how well they work through walls. If you have any recommendations or info, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all.

actually i was going to pm bigdog with a curiosity of mine before all he11 broke loose in his complex. that was to hook up a wireless camera to his in dash screen as a rear view supplement. like i said it was just a curiosity.
anyhow, x10 is not too good i hear. yeah, they make everything under the sun, but clarity is supposed to be horrible. and it's not really video thru walls either, but more like a sequence of still b&w photos. i guess it may be better if you're like really close to the receiver, but what's the point?

Wide Angle is the best
If you buy from X10 get the wide angle lens. I have tried them all. The wide angle is the best, clarity, angle of view, and its ability to adjust to light. By no means is it a quality image. It will be great for in-cabin camera or for a rear cam for backing up. Distant objects are not clear. The wideangle has a limited adjustable focus.
I don't use its wirless transmitter. I convert it to a wired camera and run phone wire.
The cameras are durable; I have used them in a wheel well of a Dodge ram when I went mudding. Just Leave the plastic lens cover on and wipe it off when its dirty.
For $60 bucks its a steal if yor video quality needs are minimal.
In the $150 plus range you will start finding better quality cameras and wireless transmitters. Remember, cordless phones, microwaves, and wirless networks transmit in the 2.4GHZ range which almost all cameras use to broadcast wireless images. This will greatly diminish your range.
I hope this helps.

It would be cool to have a little cam mounted somewhere with a little recorder, like cops have. There always seems to be a time when you wish you had a cam to get that race or get that a$$hole who cut you off, or what ever.
