I just got a new SE 5 spd and I am trying to determine the best sequesnce of mods. On my last max I went exhaust, intake, FSTB, then springs. I feel like the stock exhaust on the 5th gen is not too restrictive, so I might not want to touch it yet. What were the first few mods that you all did? What makes the most hp gains? I appreciate your input.
Thanks in advance.

I think 2000 SE 5-speed gives enough power already

it can ran 14.9 stock if you a good driver.

I think the weakest point of Maxima still for 5gen is SUSPENSION. FSTB and RSB will fix the suspension pretty nicely.
I would get springs too because it will look and handle even better with springs. H&Rs or Eibach.

Good luck.

I'd go with the y-pipe if you want biggest power gains (you lose pre-cats though), second (and easiest) is the intake, and third is exhaust (most complicated of the three)From the y and intake together you ought to get around 12 hp to the wheels along with a nice growl. Several of us dyno'd the combo and that's what we got.

As for whether the 5spd has enough power already - that's a matter of opinion!!!!

MODS

I did the Intake first, and then would do definitely exhaust for the nice sound, but since i'm picky i'm waiting to save up and get it custom made with dual remus tips. Third would have to be suspension, and the rest matters on preference.
peace

I did suspension mods first . . .

FSTB first and then RSB. (I'd reverse that if I had to do it over again.) Followed that up with the exhaust. Next upgrade will be the intake.

I probably won't go with a Y-pipe. Too many penalties for removing smog equipment in California. And I doubt I'll lower the car either. It already drives stiff enough for my taste.

RSB, FSTB. at least you can feel a difference with those. the intake you can't feel, just makes more noise. Can't speak for anything else.
