I have the stock 17/225/50 tires on the car so far this winter. To say the least, they are not up for the Canadian Winter Challenge. Every tire place except one tells me to go down to 15/205/65. The one place that said no, tells me to use 16" winter tires, because I could hurt the suspension. That sounds like crap to me, but I would like to hear what you owners have to say.

I think they may be right this time. I don't think you can find many snow tires in a 17". I think if you go to 15" you will have the most options availble to you. There is a good selection of 16" too, but 15" will give you the greatest. You should visit http://www.tirerack.com for more info on winter tires. Good Luck.

You should not have problems with 15's. The base GXE comes with 15's and the brake size between the SE and GXE are the same. Go with 15's for snow tires. You will have more choices than if you went with 16's .

The taller, skinnier rubber works better too - another good reason for the 15's.
