Air Conditioner Fan failure

Has anyone had the fan on their air/heat go out? I have an '01 I30t and last week the fan went out. The display still works and it shows that the fan is on full but no air comes out of the vents. So, I had to wait today in order to take my car in (I live over an hour from the nearest Infiniti dealer). Left it all day and when I picked it up the fan was working fine when the service guy showed me. He mentioned they replaced some sensor. When I got back home, I ran to the grocery and guess what when I got back in the car. No air conditioner fan again! Nothing!!

Anyone have any suggestions or past history with this problem?

Thanks
Rick

I dunno... but I've have both fans replaced in my Max and PF (same motor). They threw out all their oil and started eating at the brushes. I got them replaced before they 'burned out', so to speak.

Tim,

What were the symptoms when you replaced these fans in your vehicles? Did the fan stop working all together first?

no, they were just ticking very loudly.. actually pulling the fan takes less than 5 mins, so I decided to take a peek before giving it to the dealer. I also wanted to see if the motor could be serviced, it cannot.

When I got the motor out, it was pretty nasty.. Oil had collected in the cover and I felt like the amount of brush dust found meant that they probably have eventually failed. Neither had stopped working yet.

Just happened this morning...>

The fan in my car has been making noises at low speed but thought nothing of it. I get in the car this morning(45 degrees) and start down the road. Hit the climate control button and watch the fan lights all come on but no fan.

What's you diagnosis? New fan? Fuse? Sensor? Keep us up to date on your progress.

Rick,
Did you ever find out what was wrong with your Fan? I'm having the same problem.

I tried switching out the FAN fuses under the hood, but nothing happened. About 15 minutes later the Fan worked ok.
