Changed Trans fluid...Need help

I just changed my trans fluid in my 01 tonight and I'm a little concerned on a few things. First, when I dropped the pan I found a layer of "stuff" about 1/8 thick on the magnets that are inside the pan. Should I be worried about this or is it normal?

Second, I put in 4 quarts and and the fluid level checked out fine when it was cold. I took it out for a 10 mile run to the store and I noticed that the trans slipped on me twice. Stupid question, should I put in 4.5 qts? It seems that 4 quarts wasn't enough.
I've researched this subject and I've seen opinions vary from 3 qts to 4.5 qts.

FYI - I didn't measure the amount of fluid that came out because I HAD A BRAIN CRAMP.

Need help on both of these!

Thanks

A complete flush which is the only way that your going to truly change your transmission fluid it takes around 10-11 quarts.

As far as I know, you need to measure the AT fluid level at operating temperature with the engine running. Only then you'll get an accurate reading. I believe the correct procedure is included in the user manual. Both underfilling and overfilling the tranny are bad news and will cause problems.
