I talked to master tech who took a drive with me to check the suspension of my 2k2 6speed. he said 2k2 and 2k3 have many differences. Tuning is different due to smog restrictions being tighter for 2003. When I quized him he seemed to agree the 2k2 may have better performance curve than the 2k3. Also said 2k3 has quieter suspension and ride.
I have a driven a couple of 2k3 with 6 speed and I always thought the throttle in my 2k2 is more responsive. I agree that 2k3 seems more quiet in ride.
This seems to be the story of 95 MAX SE vs 97 model when emissions went from OBD1 to OBD2. The 95 is more responsive and has produced better times.

 

95's had OBD2 too.
