Intake insulation?

Hey Org. members,
There was a thread one or two days ago that showed a picture of insulation for the Injen intake. Has anyone tried this product and if so does it really help. After driving my car just a few minutes the intake tubes get really hot.

Hey, you stubled on our thread. The intake insulation is made by DEI. I found this out earlier today, as I was doing research. DEI made the header wrap that I used on my Greddy headers that I had on my GSR. A fine company. Now, the problem is this: The intake "bag" is $50.

The 3.5l throws tons of heat. I've been popping my hood multiple times the past few weeks and checking the temp of the intake tube after different driving experiences.

The ambient temp here has been around 60....should be cool enough, right?

Well, I'm finding out that the 3.5l does not have enough heat sinks to dissapate the extra heat (I know my spelling is bad, but it's 3am and I've been out, so lay off). I think the tube (the last 3/5's of it) needs to be insulated. The MAF (black part) is cool, and the tube leading to the throttle body is cool too...so if we can sheild the rest of it, it should help.

I've personally noticed lag after running the engine hard..even in 60 degree weather. I expected it when it was 85-90...now I know there's something up.

Oh, and BTW...it was pretty bad with the stock setup too...but the injen felt way more powerful when the car was cold vs warmed up.

I just bought the Intake bag from SUmmitRacing.. It should be here hopefully by the end of the week.. The thing is that I switched back to my Hydrid PR upper Tube with Apexi Filter. I'm thinking of putting the Hybrid PR Upper Tube with the JWT. Bigger filter should give me more up top. I'm also thinking about putting back my PR CAI.. Damn I got so many intakes at home I don't know which one to go with..

I've got DEI heat wrap on my intake and I can tell you that in 60 degree weather, you will be able to rest your hand on your intake from the cooler air. In warmer weather, it's not so cool, but it's definitely cooler than without. There's no doubt about that.

Can you let me know how it goes...i.e. if it works, if it is a quality product.

Here's the link for the intake "bag"

You also have the 3.0l engine, which does not seem to have the heat problems that the 3.5l does.

No. This wrap is for the intake. It's made to keep heat out, but I think you'd melt it on the y-pipe....you need to use DEI header wrap if you want to do something like that.
