Quick run with a 2k2
I ran into a Burgandy 2k2 on the highway today. I went to pass a car in the left lane and a 2k2 was behind me. I hit it to pass a semi-truck and the 2k2 also proceeded to hit it behind me. I was in 3rd gear at around 70 when I hit it and pulled on the 2k2 pretty good. I couldnt tell how many much though because he was behind me. I was impressed though!

Yup, no offense intended, but it's definitely possible that he wasn't really trying to race you. Sometimes I find myself pacing other cars just for the hell of it, not really racing or trying to start one either...

Auto or not, you will lose. Trust me. If they really were running after you, they would have pulled.
I have absolutely no problem pulling on 5th gens w/ all the goodies. The only thing 4th or 5th gens I have not run with are NOS or Boosted. I am actually curious to run with Tony (1max2nv). I would like to see how it turns out.

Most modded 2k2 autos are lucky to break 94mph in the 1/4 mile. A 5 speed 2k with a y-pipe and intake will consistently break 94mph. Actually more like 96mph. Trap speed is the best indicator of true available power. ET is all about traction.

Yes Dave, we know what you got. Give me 1 or 2 years to mod the car right then lets talk. I mean, you cannot expect someone to take their $25k new car and just strip it and run to the track. Sorry, but I would like to at least have the Loan to value ratio in my favor before tearing it up.
If things go the way I hope, I should see mid - low 13s NA. We will see what happens next summer. It doesnt take me long to get tired of simple bolt ons and get a little extreme.
Also, I would like to think on the highway, NA to NA, I will take you at some point.
EDIT-- I just checked your homepage Dave. I thought you were faster.... guess my comments are over-shot. By spring, I will have no problem taking you, track or highway. Right now, personally, I think you may hang with me, I might not dust you, but I don't forsee you "dusting" my a$$ either. I am confident in my ride and driving skills (cocky statement)

The guy was racing...He went from 70-90+ in a few seconds. Last time I went to the track 2 2k2 autos were there. They ran better ET's than I did, but my trap was 2 mph higher.

I love how you guys think all of us auto 2K2's are so slow. I have my share of freeway races.. thats the only place I usually dish it out. I smoked a 5 series beemer with 4 people ..... I know one thing, the main ingredient to making an auto Max fast in top end is a Frankencar or Berk intake.. That adds some serious power in the top end.... Just be carefull who you race. I dont care how high the needle goes.. Im not letting off !

I raced a 2k2/2k3 stock auto about 4 times on the highway the other day and beat him everytime. I pulled on him at least a car-car/half (70-95) in third and just totally walked away in 4th (125mph) at least 6 cars total maybe more. We raced 4 times even giving him the initial jump. Also raced a 2k2 v6 Auto Altima with basically the same outcome. Never raced either one from a dead stop but on the highway I pull on them no prob at highway speeds.
My car:
2k1 5spd
sts
hybid intake
y-pipe
rt cat
b-pipe
stock muffler
UDP
heavy 18's
heavy dual 12" box in trunk
etc...

I like my 2k2, but sometimes it really pi$$es me off how it is tempermental. I have never had a car that just doesn't perform the same from one minute to the next. And please don't get me started on the paint and this timing chain noise....

Sorry I live in Canada so going to the track against you isn't possible.

Damn I love Canada
Anyways a 2k2 4spd auto strong point is off the line not highway speeds.

Read through the thread. The Highway speeds of a 2k1 5spd with all bolts vs a 2k2 auto stock or even with udp/intake. The 5spd will win no prob especially in 4th gear to 125mph.

Modded (less mods than mine)
14.38@96.62 (2.13)
Stock
14.75@94.85 (2.30)
Also gearing comes into play after 96mph as well. The 4th gear on a 2k1 Max is very strong to 125mph. The trap speeds are a good start but trust me you will get pulled on in 4th gear easily. Find someone in your area with the same mods as mine and run him from 70-125.

Thing is...you autos trap almost 80mph in the 1/8 while 4th and 5th gen 5-speeds are trapping 75-76mph in the 1/8. That means that the 5-speed are making up 5-6mph on the high end...theres no way a stock 2k2 auto is going to hang with a bolt-on 4th gen or 5th gen 5-speed.
BTW- I trapped 97+ at the track last weekend...there was a 2k2 auto with intake there trapping 94-95 and 2 6-speeds there one stock trapping 95 and the other with intake and exhaust was trapping 96-97 like me.MAX2000JPs car is VERY close to mine in straight line performance...so hell yea I believe he walked a 2k2 no problem.

As I said race a 2k1 5spd with all bolt ons from 70-125mph and you will get pulled on. Simple just do it.
