How about this tire/wheel combination?

It is time to get some new tires for my 2001 Maxima GXE with 205/65/15 Dunlop SP5000 on the OEM 15x6" steels.

I am thinking about a combination of 15x6.5" Sport Edition Fox 2 with 215/60/15 Dunlop Sport A2 from tirerack.com.

What do you think?

If you're gonna buy new wheels, why not upgrade to at least 17's ? As soon as my tax check comes back in april i think i'm gonna get some MM Evo's, even though like 10 people have gotten them recently.

Well, I think my 15" ride is smooth and cushioned (few bent wheels in potholes). I just need a little bit more traction when I occasionally do some spirited launchs.

I'm thinking of get a set of those in 19x8.5 from tirerack as a extra set of rims because there are really nice, looks good on Maximas and they are really cheap. I think I saw them for $299 ea for the 19x8.5. Can't beat that price.

yeah at least one up the size. 15" rims are you kidding me? 16x7s would be a good size.

My 18's ride a little rougher than my 16's did, but I love em. Just one question though. Will 235/40's fit on a 7" wide rim. Got 225/40's now.

D_warner, check 5th gen FAQ's, page 5. There is a link to the tire and rim assoc. chart on what size tires are acceptable on certain size rims. It will answer your question.

BTW, I am very surprised y2kse hasn't jumped in yet.

Why is that, mpc578? People who've been around here as long as d_warner has should know how to find the answers to simple questions for themselves. But it was good of you to point him to the FAQs. Perhaps next time he'll use them before he wastes org bandwidth.

I decided to get 215/55/16 with 16" alloys. It is time to get more grip. The problem is that it snows quite a lot in central Indiana.
