Dyno Results for 5thgen- 2KSE

Here is the news:

I went to DRT Racing yesterday and dynoed my car for the first time.

I did 5 pulls on their dyno with what I feel, are poor results. This dyno session was to establish a baseline before I started to upgrade the performance of my car. Thus far, I have only enhanced the handling, braking (more on this in another thread ) and looks of the car.

The results are:

Run 1: 165.60 hp
Run 2: 169.94 hp
Run 3: 163.83 hp
Run 4: 170.82 hp
Run 5: 176.01 hp

I couldn't pull up the torque figures (the guy downloaded the info onto a disk) so I will call him on Monday to find out why.

In any case, I would like to know what is Nissan's % loss for an automatic. If it is 20% to 25% then I guess that I am in the ballpark.

This all leads me to my first performance mod. Right after the dyno I went to Jeff's place (Maximus75) and had him install my new INJEN intake. As usual, Jeff did a great job, right down to the details of making sure the INJEN logos were all facing up. I ended up going back there this morning since I left my video camera at his shop. I videod the Dyno runs which I will post soon. I also ended up meeting PCGuRu2K and Pmp-n8a at Jeff's place and props to both of them on their rides....especially "Mr. Turbo".

So now that I have established my baseline, I will dyno in about 2 weeks to get the results of this mod. This way I will get hard evidence as to the gains, instead of relying on the "butt dyno" which so far says better low end but slightly less top end.

I would like to know if any other stock 2K or 2K1 auto has dynoed and what the results were (SAE corrected). Any opinions/comments are welcome.

thanks

Looks about right for the 2K VQ30DE-K auto. Kinda disapointing when the car is advertised with 222hp, huh? I plan on doing a few dyno runs with mine in a month or so ... I'll let you know what they end up at. I'm going to put my stock intake back on before the runs. The K&N whistle is starting to drive me nuts!

from what i've read in the past, your dyno numbers for a 5th gen, excluding the 2k2, is about right for an auto. The percentage I believe was somewhere of a loss between 20-30% of total hp at the crank.

222hp * 30%= loss of 66.6 hp = 155.4 (lowest)
222hp * 20%= loss of 44.4 hp = 177.6 (highest)

of course all this is theoretically speaking....

Those #s look about right. Remember the extra 30hp is at 6400rpm vs what the 4th gen does. I personally seen 2 bone stock 97se autos dyno 145-148whp/155-158wtq. Also for tranny loss just use the difference in torque at 4000rpm vs what nissan says is at the flywheel. The 4th gen autos seem to lose 40-50lbs in the auto but only 25-35tq in the 5spds.

Great........thanks guys for the verification and clarification on tranny loss.

I still would like to hear from another member who has dynoed a stock 2K or 2K1. Come on..........somebody post up their SAE corrected figures.

SterlingMist00,

What were the increases after the injen intake? Or have you not dynoed it yet, cause I thought you said you did run it after that.

Haven't re-dynoed yet. Will do so either this Friday or next. Car felt great in the cool 49 degree morning. Nice power. I will shortly create a custom "ram air" to the Injen filter so when I pull from a light it will funnel cold air directly to the filter.

When I re-dyno I will post the results of the Injen intake addition.

Will add an Unorthodox UDP and Y-pipe next (at seperate times).....and dyno again of course to verify any gains.
