How do you guys shift?

Alright, when you guys are street racing from a stop light. how do you shift? I mean, I would drop the clutch and shift into first, and get the car going. When I redline the thing in first, I drop the clutch, pull it into second, and let go of the clutch, and give gas. Is that what you guys do? experienced drivers??

Yeah, nobody street races, it's illegal!

However, when I accelerate "briskly" from a stop, I usually rev a little, then let the clutch out, such that the tires squeal for traction, but do not break loose all the way. I run that to about 6k RPM, then put my hand on the shifter gently pulling back, by the time the engine is almost to 6500, I stab the clutch, and the shifter jams in second. Needless to say, 2nd will then burn a little, then I run through the gears the same way until I've reached the posted speed.

my way

This is how I do it. I put the shifter in D. I just press the pedal down and it changes gears automatically. I know, I am surprised too.

So what happens with your foot once you jam the shifter in second? gas or let go of the clutch first?

It happens so fast that I you barely notice, but, you let off the clutch and almost floor the gas. I say almost because you wanna let the tires get some grip first. Think of it this way. My feet are basically passing eachother on the way back down and up. One is going up at the same time the other is going down and vice versa. The shifting part is all done during the down stroke of the clutch. You don't have to wait till it's all the way down when you're doing it that fast.
