Weird noise in reverse?

Weird noise in reverse?
I have a Berk Intake and a auto 2k2 GLE. I've noticed that when I accelerate while in reverse, it's a very loud and weird deep groan. While in drive everything sounds great. There's no hissing and everything looks very tight. If I put it in reverse and very gently push on the accelerator there's no strange sound, but if I hit the gas too much no matter how gradual it is, the strange sound occurs. Is there something wrong or is this normal for an aftermarket WAI?

It's the top of your intake manifold hitting the bottom of your FSTB. It happens to most people with Sillen FSTB while accelerating hard in reverse. It happens to me as well and I actually posted a similar thread a few weeks ago asking the same question. If you do a search you will find this out. The only suggestion I got is the just either live with it or don't accelerate hard in reverse. The only other alternative would be this. Good Luck!

Nice thread. It doesn't sound like it's hitting the manifold. It's more like a strange sucking groan. Why does it only happen in reverse and not full WOT? Is this what you encountered? Yes I do have the Stillen FSTB.

Some of us have trimmed (filed about an 1/16 - 1/8 in. off the TB (right side of it) Lumbee799 did this I think. And some of us have dremelled about an 1/16 - 1/8 in. of the bottom of the bar where it touches (I did). Some have also had a problem of the washer hose on the driver side with the FSTB. I have a short writeup here on mine.
