How much is this 2K worth?

I came across a guy selling his 2K GXE. Has a spoiler, 9-spokes and fog lights. The car is in excellant condition, both inside and out. No stains and no paint chips what-so-ever! The only problem with the car is that it was in an accident and now has a salvage title. Oh yea, it's an automatic and has a little less than 15K on it. What would be a reasonable price for this car? Thanks.

Dave.

What kind of accident to merit a salvage title? Other than no chips...which I would attribute to the front end needing repainting (if not a total replacement), how is the rest of the paint? The exact same shade, finish, etc.? This will tell how much of the car has been repainted.

Not knowing the extent of the damage, I would not want to guess at value.

Well they say with a salvage title you should dedeuct at least 25% off of blue book. or at least thats what the insurance companies do in MA..

about $4-6000. Dealer tradein on a straight 2k GXE is as low as 9K, so its not going to be worth much

Even though the car might be flawless, the going price for it is the current NADA value times .5. In other words, if the car has a street value of 20k, with a salvage title I'd not offer the seller more than 10k.

And the same thing will happen to you when you go sell it. It happened to me.

Yup...run like h#ll...

The paint is completely blended. He said it was hit in the front and the bumper and fender were replaced, but impossible to tell. He popped the hood and everything looked flawless. Thanks for all the comments.

Salvage title could mean the car was flooded above its axles. Someone might have cleaned it up, dried it out. But you might not see anything wrong at all until it rusts from the inside out. And you won't see anthing wrong with the finish.

Nope. He bought it about six months ago. I know, I know. Hey, I didn't buy it. The car had 8,500 miles on it when it got T-boned. A body shop bought it, fixed it up and sold it.

Funny thing, my car had $45,000 ish miles when I bought it at approx. the same time. My car - not a ding, dent or scratch. (Save the front end occassional paint chip). I paid $17k. I think I got a better deal. AND I have more options.
