Changing Sparkplugs
Changing Sparkplugs
Well I've decided to do this on my own and get the experince in as well as a few bucks saved. What do I need to change my plugs? What tools do I need to do the job. And how do I find them on the 3.5 engine? Aren't they undere the intake manifold. Is there a specific kind of plug to grab.
Well, unfort., I can't speak for the 3.5, but I just did mine on my 2k this weekend and it only took maybe an hour? Front three were cake, just had to remove the engine cover with 4 allen screws. Front back just took a little stretching and maneuvering to get the coil packs off. I would definitely not pay anyone to do this job!
Why?
Tell me why anyone would be interested in swapping out plugs on a brand new 2K2 car? I drive a 2K SE with 60K and still don't feel the need to swap out the plugs on my Max. I probably will B4 Winter kicks in, but I don't even feel the engine skip a beat. Still get 26 MPG on the highway. No flaming, just wondering. Please respond. Thanx.

I'm surprised no one has told him to do a search. There are a few detailed threads about this, as well as a good write-up in the HOW-TO sticky.

Thanks Ethan............................................
Im at 14,000 miles and the car is really starting to "shimmy" in the engine bay. I figure the plugs need changing or Nissan needs to look it over.

Nissan needs to look it over then. At 14K, it's way to soon to drop $80 on set of plugs. If you do it yourself, that's the least that you'll drop. If you pay to have it done( I as well as most org. members would not suggest to do that), you'l drop a couple of bills(yikes).
