White LEDs (Clearance & Sidemarkers)

Have any of you guys installed/tried out white LEDs for the sidemarker and/or clearance lights (2k2)? Are they significantly brighter & whiter than just buying a regular Polarg or PIAA wedge (194/168) bulb? There's PIAA ones floating around on Ebay for around $23 a pair. Ebay - PIAA White LEDs

I'm just wondering if it's worth spending the $$ on those to get a pure white and bright light from the clearance lights and sidemarkers. Also, do you think they differ from these much? (scroll down)
If you've seen these white 194 LEDs in person or something your opinion on them would be appreciated! Thanks

I've been using the Piaa LED Blue/White for a few weeks now. I had the Piaa Super White, and Super Plasma's. The Blue/White was a lil too blue for me so I just replaced them with just the Piaa LED White. These are definitely brighter and better looking then the regular Piaa wedge bulbs. They produce almost like a clear hid effect.. The ones in my sig is the Piaa Super Plasma's.. The LED's are like 2x brigher and clearer.

Thanks for the info PCG. Where did you get the PIAA LEDs from? Optauto doesn't have them. Anywhere else online besides Ebay where one can buy them (for a bit cheaper preferably)?

Do the PIAA white LEDs match the stock HID bulbs on the 2k2? I am looking to match the clearance light (or parking light, whatever it's called!) to the HIDs...my fogs too...

I want to find the best match, and am considering the Super Plasma White H3 and 194 to do the job. PCG, you're saying that these still have a blue tint to them?

It seems that the more I read here, the more confused I get...Some people think the Xtreme whites are the best match, others the Super Plasma Whites, and I don't think I have seen anyone mention the Super White Platinum.

I am definitely considering the white LEDs for the interior lights...I want to have white light, not bluish-white. So I'll just have to shop around for those.

Thanks.

i wasn't really too happy with my PIAA Super Plasma clearance lights on my 2k2 HIDs. It looks good when the HID is off at night but once you turn it on it doesn't look white anymore. In the end, it still beats the stock one! I am thinking of getting white piaa leds now.

I'm definitely ordering some PIAA white LEDs.

Anyone have those on the 2k2?

I keep asking because i don't want to spend $50-$70 on the fogs and find out that they don't match the HIDs/LEDs

Anyways...one step at a time, since i gotta figure out if i can manage to get the fog lights out first! Hah!

update...

I bought the PIAA White LEDs and just put them in my clearance lights. The output behind that clear piece of plastic in the parking light housing is disappointing. The stock lights in there are brighter than these things I'll wait till it gets dark to see if it's any better..but I doubt it. Spent $20 on the things too Hopefully the sidemarkers will be brighter - Installing them tomr.

www.OptAuto.com -- Look in the Lighting section, under the 168 bulbs section. They have all the new PIAA LEDs there. They look cool, but I don't know about spending $20/pair for sidemarker bulbs.

I went with regular LEDs that you can find at www.midmightmoose.com .. there is also a discount code that can be found on www.5thgenmaximas.com

I think they look absolutely the same... here is a pic of the red LED..

I need to find something that works...I just installed my clear corners about a week ago, and I got cheap red wedge bulbs. The ambers that came with the lenses (from CustomMaxima.com) are great, looks like stock lenses at night. But the red bulbs look pink

Any suggestions? I don't really want to go with LEDs because my experience with them is that they are very uni-directional with the light...the light just kind of goes straight, rather radiant like regular (stock) wedge bulbs.

what about that picture doesn't work? Is it too pink? I've tried the all types of regular wedge bulbs for the rear and the LEDs fair better.

LOL!!

I should have removed the picture from that post...That isn't my car

On my car they look pink. I didn't want to get LEDs because I would expect to see a bright dot where the LED focused, and that would be red, but the rest would not be bright...I really don't know until I try it, but I am not going to go and buy all the different types of bulbs until I find the right ones!

This is what I ordered, Pilot Led for $19.95 including shipping: http://www.showtimeautotrix.com/11561157led.html

Here is a picture of how the led look like, bright!: http://store4.yimg.com/I/showtimeautotrix_1705_6589601

I wanted to match out my HID Kit and wanted it to be white and bright, isntead of ooogly looking Raybrig Tea Green color.

These LED clusters won't fit on the clearance light of the 2K2. You can only get 4 LEDs max in there without modifying the housing. I've got LEDs in my clearance lights, and I'm using the brightest LEDs available. Unfortunately, the brighter the LED the narrower the viewing angle. Since the mounting socket of the wedge-base lamp is mounted at about a 10-15 degree angle, the LEDs don't point straight out. They aim a little high, and a little to the outside. It looks kinda funny and kinda cool at the same time. The whole lens isn't illuminated either, only the center of it- (actually off-center). I'll take some pics.

2K2MaxSe..definately post pics because I really don't think 2 LEDs (like the ones in PIAA) are bright enough. It looks pretty bad w/the PIAAs in there @ night. Not to mention the fact that the clearance lights look bluish for some reason w/the PIAA LEDs

As for the sidemarkers, I installed the clear corners w/the PIAA LEDs and, at night, the light comes through w/a bluish tint. I have no idea why it's like that because when the bulbs are out of the corner lense, the output is a nice, bright white. Once you put them inside the corner lense, it looks somewhat bluish. I honestly don't think it's worth the extra $8 or so per pair -- the color isn't really a pure white.
