I think my in dash computer is broken

My computer has not changed in months now. No matter where I drive (high way or regular street driving) it still only shows 22.5 mpg or maybee sometimes 24.4. Is this normal? How r your guys's computers do they change when you race or do some hard driving. I want to take my car to the dealer but before I do I wanna hear your responses on that.

The trip computer, especially the MPG one, averages the #'s everything since last reset. It's not broken or anything, it's just not accurate enough to be deemed worthy.

On my 5600+ mile trip to the NE and back i averaged 520 miles to a tank of gas but my trip would still show 21mpg. (never reset it)

i really doubt its broken if its changing,

try to hold it down for like 5 seconds until it resets and drive a 1/3 of a mile and see if it changes...

Cruise at 75mph for 15 hours straight w/ only gas stops in between and you'll get that kinda mileage

Oh, i have an Auto-Magic

P.S. I said 520 miles to a tank, not 530 MPG. That would be pushing it.

Okay i'll give you a break, though you have to be greatful you have a job. I've been laid-off for months now

Anyway, to reset it just press and hold the button for 5 seconds. Same button you use to toggle between MPG/DTE/Time/Temp.

Naah if I made it through the first one 25% then I think my chances r a lot higher now (only 5% of work force will be affected) Just wait and see and try not to let this mess with my head too much

BTW, this is all in owner's manual on page 2-31. It's not undocumented like the little compartment between the armrest cubby and the armrest or being able to clear mix/repeat on the CD player by holding down RPT button.

You can also reset the average speed and count up "timer" the same way.
