For those who have HLSD- Time Sensitive Question!

Hi guys,

Well, I'm going for the 2k3, Sheer Silver (or Glacier, still haven't decided that one). At any rate, I'm considering the HLSD axle. If you have it, can you tell me how useful it's been?

Also, is there any difference in acceleration or gas mileage compared to those without HLSD?

I'd like to have it, just for my ego but want to know if it's really worth the money. We don't get much snow around here, and I don't really plan to go "off-roading"....

Thanks in advance!

Jack

Get it.

It helps whenever there is a loss of traction, not just snow, but rain, sand, mud whatever.

You're gonna have a lot of power, so you might as well give it a little control. There isn't any noticeable difference in acceleration (dry conditions) or gas mileage. Good luck finding one without having to get all the other options.

I got mine for 2 reasons:

1) Better traction
2) Really cool pedals

I have never driven a 6SP without it so I can't say for sure that it makes that much of a difference, but anytime you combind wide tires + rain + 6 speed you are bound to slid around some. Also, you might have a hard time finding one without it!

I wish that I'd spent the extra for the HLSD.

I melted my right front tire yesterday on a hard acceleration out of a turn.

Since it's only a $3~~ option, I'd say go for it! Some people say it's not worth it, but I love it. Like someone else said, its good really cool pedals.

Number one reason I wish I waited for a HLSD 6-Speed.

GET IT!

Sure you may spin, but at least you will spin in a straight line.

I always wanted to know if people who have it actually noticed it work?

Do you guys get less wheel spin when it is wet outside? I know those horrible tires are not helping, but does HLSD help at all?

I read a review on CL-S 6-speed and their HLSD or whatever they call it and they said it was great in cornering.

All I can say is I noticed a difference when I was testing back for a purchase of an '01. The VSLD on my AE works very well.

having HLSD is great, when your cornering and punch it the car just goes. like if you have the wheels a little off center and then just dump it the car just hooks up and goes where the wheels are pointed unlike without the LSD where the one wheel just spins.

Having had 4 Maximas with manual transmissions now and this being the only one with HLSD, I would have to say it is a MUST buy...assuming you know how to drive hard. I think it is very noticable how it grabs and holds, especially exiting through a corner. You can give it all shes got out of a corner and get yourself nailed to the seat...rather than just sending a single tire up in smoke. And no, I don't drive hard very often, but when I do, I prefer it to be gratifying. It also does make a very noticable difference on any sort of wet pavement.

Umm.. i have a problem

I have HLSD, and when i corner and punch, i spin both wheels at the same time and understeer like crazy.. HAHHA

Honestly the HLSD setup isn't as great as everybody thinks it is. It gives off weird mechanical vibrations, and not as smooth as the VLSD..

However i still like leaving two black strips as opposed to one.. LOL

I wanted HLSD, but it seemed to be pretty rare among the remaining 2002's when I was looking at the beginning of summer. I still wish I had it, especially now that it's started raining here...
