trying to become a max owner

Hi guys,
I'm new to this board (just registered as a matter of fact). I'll be in the market for a new 2003 Maxima SE in about 2 weeks or so. I've done some reseach here about what people paid for their cars and so on, but was wondering if anybody got one for a good price in the MA, NH, or CT area. I'm in Boston, have looked at current ads. The supposedly cheapest dealer around here (Quirk) is advertising 2003 SEs and GLEs for $4800 off sticker. I'm looking to get the following packages: Meridian, Titanium, Leather, and HLSD, sunroof, 6sp. The sticker for this is something like $30,480. Do you think I can get it for around 25k at the end of November? If anyone is in Boston and got a great deal somewhere, please let me know. People from elsewhere, please offer your insights and suggestions on how to go about getting the best price.

Also, if I buy at the end of November, would the dealers be more willing to let them go for cheaper?
Thanks. Look forward to your help.

With the 2004 Max's being all new, the current generation will take a big hit in value. Might be cheaper to wait a little bit.

When you say "wait a little bit", you mean wait till the 2004 is actually out? I need to get a new car before the end of this year (end of this month) would be best. So, I can't wait till spring, which is when, I guess, the 2004 is supposed to go on sale. Wouldn't it make sense for Nissan to start giving big discounts on 2003's now to make sure they sell as many of them before the 2004's arrive?

Anyhow, thanks for the respons. Anyone else have any tips/suggestions?

Thanks

regardless of the package and options, just pay less then invoice and you wont get hurt financially.

At this moment, I would actually be on the Infinti lot taking a long look at the i35. They are also being discounted greatly. The G's are killing them in sales and they are at the end of that platform. In fact, I think my Infiniti dealer wants them off the lot to make more room for G35 sedans :/ You can get NAV for almost free and take another additional 2k off. That puts them in Maxima range. While they are basically the same car in most respects, the service will be worth every penny more..

The thing is, though, is that I want a Maxima cuz it's got a 6sp. The I35, although a great car, is not very sporty, which is what I'm looking for.

Hey guys,

I noticed that this thread got like 72 views, but only 4 replies!
Anyways, does anyone have anything else to add? Anything that worked well for you when u bargained with the dealers? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The time is coming near for me to go and start shopping, so I'd like to have as much ammo as possible.

Thanks.

you may be able to get a better deal if you wait until the end of December. my dad has always told me its much better to buy a car at the end of the year because dealers want to get rid of them for tax reasons. this maxima is my first NEW car so i cant really back that up with personal experience.

I went to 3 dealers in the Springfield Mass area, {Lia}Enfield, {Rome}West Sprinfield and Baystate in Springfield. Baystate was $1,000 cheaper for the exact same car.

I can recommend two dealers in the area that I have used. One is in Nashua, NH and the other is in Cohasset, MA. Just bought a 2001 Majestic Blue Maxima 20th AE, factory demo, never titled from Cohasset, MA dealer. Got a good price, considering used AE's usually sell quickly, if priced right. Mine was priced at $23,595 for at least a month with no takers. I bought it on September 30, 2002 (always buy at end of month, dealers got to get his sales numbers up) for $21,350. Private party pricing was $20,500. I paid a little bit more for the Maxima I wanted for my daily driver (24K miles per year), because it was the only one available in New England that I could get a reasonable price for, but I saved $5-7k over buying new.
My 1996 Maxima SE (215k miles)has been passed on to my sisters until the day that it finally dies, which I don't expect will be any time before 2010. Like the Eveready bunny "it keeps going, and going, and going...". I hope my sisters will get the mileage up to 500k before it dies.
I also have a 2002 Frontier CC S/C that I bought from the Nashua dealer on September 13, 2002. Have bought two Frontiers from them and got a great price on both of them.
Anyway, sorry to ramble on. E-mail me for more info. Would be happy to help you negotiate a good deal.

Alfred

Rather than popping for a 2003 ($25000), I got a 2002 SE through Enterprise rental for $19,142. Same car and under 19,000 miles, Warranty, Service records and "Certified".

Go to http://glicknissan.com/index.asp. I bought my 2K2 6 speed back in March and I got everything but the HLSD and NAVI for 26K. (were not many incentives on the car when I bought) You can probably do a little better than that now. Speak to Paul K. He is in charge of the internet sales and that price that I got was without any haggling. They are located in Westborough, MA on Route 9. PM me if you are interested and I will call him for you.
