someone scratched the hell out of my car

not my day i guess. I go into a store to buy something and on my way out i see this huge gash above the rear wheel well. I was frantically checking the car next to me to see if that sob did it. Turns out it didnt have a scratch on it (new 745). I suppose the car backing out must have turned or rubbed too close. I inspected it closely when i got home; it doesn't look too deep, just right on the layer. Does anyone recommend a product to use, maybe a compound cuz it brings tears to my eyes to see my baby with a scar.

Unfortunately if it went deep there is nothing you can do but to touchup paint it to keep it from rusting but it wont look pretty, only thing left is body shop

If its not too deep you might be able to try Swirl Remover...and hope it works

Hope this helps...

if you can feel it on top of the paint, i suggest trying to use clay bar first.

Someone keyed my car today also and I went to my frineds body shop and he took it right out with wet sanding. If the scratch is not that deep buy the thinnest snad paper i think like 1000 or so. wet the area and then the paper and gently swirl around the scratched area. Do not do it too hard since u dont want to take the clear coat off. Its gonna look kind of bad at first when you dry it out (it will look like someone just scratched your car even more)but with a buffing compound and a buffer it'll take that sucker right out, and give it a nice and smooth finish.

I have actually been doing some body work to my max with the help of an ex-body work pro. Unless you know what you are doing, DO NOT sandpaper the clear coat. My car had been keyed, among other damage and the keying alone took us sanding it down wet with 600, spot putty, more 600, a light coating a filler/primer spray, wet sanding at 1000 grit, couple coats of factory paint, more sanding at 2000 grit and loats of clearcoat/laquer finished with 0000 steel wool. But after all that you cant even tell. Granted, I had a deep scratch that went from the trunk, all the way down the rear quarter panel, both doors (even in between the doors) and down the front fender all the way to the wheel well. And as deep as the scratch was at no point did it go through the primer. Feel free to msg me with any questions. If I get enough feedback, I'll post a writeup.
