Unhappy with AUTODIM RVMirror
Ok, not to add ONE MORE complaint to the long list, but.......
Have any 2k2 owners noticed that the AUTODIMMING RV Mirror really doesn't dim all that much???!
I have a 15% tint all the way around (sans Windshield) and I swear it seems like people's lights in my RV are JUST as BRIGHT as in the daytime.
I can't figure it out - but I've been toggling the switch on & off during evening operation, and I CANNOT TELL ANY DIFFERENCE!!
Any 2k2 Brethren out there noticing the same???
I'm going to have the dealer replace the damn thing next visit - I swear it's broken, even though AUTO light is still lit.
Whatever ------
FORGOT TO ADD AUTO DIMMING OUTSIDE MIRRORS TO MY MAX WISH LIST!!!!

The mirror dims when there is lack of light coming in from the front (and not because there is a car behind you). Do you live in a large city with bright lights always coming into the front windshield? Just a thought that the mirror might think it is somewhat light outside. Put your finger over the censor and see if that makes a difference.

Givin' me the finger??????
.....uh - can't drive & shift with a finger over the mirror sensor....
just kidding!
Actually I do live in the city, so that almost makes sense. Still, I swear it doesn't dim all that much even when the ambient lite from the front is dim/dark.....dang.
That sensor is gonna find a piece of elct. tape over it REAL soon if that's the case!
Thanks for the input -- yet another idiot move on my part!

I noticed that after I installed my tint it dims a lot less now. The tint acts as a dimmer itself....so there's not as much need for the mirror to dim. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't dim whenever it gets dark. There has to be bright lights coming from behind you while it is also dark in front of the mirror for it to dim.

BTW: I second the auto dimming outside mirrors!

I replaced my auto dimming mirror with a manual one. I found the auto not dimming fast enough and I certainly can do it myself a lot better than it could.
Very easy to take the auto one off and replace.
Of course, Nissan should have added a 'turn dim ON' option to the mirror, which would have given us three options: auto, dim on, or dim off.

I never really paid attention to the auto dimmer. I usually just turn it off right away. After your post I checked it out tonight and I don't think I can tell the difference between on and off. A couple of times it seemed to work a little but only slightly. I live on Staten Island and was driving on Hylan Blvd which is lit up pretty well so maybe this effected the results. I'll try again another time when I'm on some back roads.

I FIXED IT!!!
Ok .... the ELECTRICAL TAPE over the Rear Sensor on the mirror works like a charm!!!
Thanks to MDEAL for the input on the mystery sensor....
Somebody asked for a mirror that simply turns ON & OFF -- well, the tape over the rear sensor gives you EXACTLY that.
Hope this helps for those that were going nuts like me!
