Replace autodim mirror with compas mirror

Has anybody replaced a Auto dim rear view mirror with the one that has a compas in it? I have a 2002 with just autodim, but no compas and want to install one that has both.

Is it a direct swap? How do you take the mirror off?

are you willing to pay over $100 for a completely new mirror just to get a compass?

My suggestion if you really want a compass to USE and not just for looks:

Go to a boating supply store and you can buy very small digital compasses that are like 2x4 inches in size and you can put them anywhere - stick to the windshield, dashboard, center console, whatever.....

sorry I can't answer your actual question, but I'm just throwing out an alternate suggestion....

If you guys do this, drop me a pm maybe I'll buy your old autodim mirror, since I have a regular one!

Well, I am eyeing a crashed MAx at the junk yard...so it should be cheap...
Thanks for advice

About auto-dim - it drives me crazy actually, because the default setting is AutoDim ON, and I want the default to be off. I have tinted windows and you can't see $hit at night.

How dark are your windows? I have 15% and can see just fine with the auto dim mirror.

um .. the autodim.. only dims when there is light going to it.. it works proportional.. so your tint should not be an issue

use the sun or the stars.
North star...or,,,

in the day, sun rises in the East, sets in the west....

but unless you're off-roading (not likely in a maxima) couldn't you just look at the road signs to know where you are?
