Finally painted my calipers!!!

After searching the .org and trying to decide between:

1) Expensive or cheap
2) Spray or brush
3) Mask everything or just be careful
4) Red (might look ricey) or silver (might not be noticeable)
5) Clearcoat or not

I finally did it!!!

Yesterday, I was home from work, trying to get over the last of this respiratory infection, and it was supposed to be about 70 degrees out. I decided to rotate my tires and get some fresh air. Well... it was so nice outside that I decided to make a day of it. Here's what I decided:

1) Cheap. Bought Duplicote Caliper Paint at Advance Auto Parts ($2.99).
2) Sprayed into a container and then brushed it on. 3 coats.
3) Didn't mask a thing. Couple of unwanted spots touched with the brush, I just wiped off with my finger.
4) RED!!! (Looks damn good too!)
5) After three coats, the stuff was looking nice and thick, and had a good shine. No clearcoat.

Entire job took about 4 hours. Did one side of the car at a time. Paint the front, move to the back. Paint the back while the front dried. Switch. Two thin coats (dried quickly), and then one THICK coat to really bring out the color. Winters here are notoriously mild, so I don't forsee any problems from salt, etc... Got several compliments at work about the calipers, so right now, I'm pretty happy. We'll see how it turns out. Hope to have some pics soon too (I've got the camera. Just have to find a place to host the pics.)!!!

jigga what???

If by "the whip", you mean my car... it's Sherwood Green. And if by "coclo", you mean color... I'm pleased with the red, but a gold or bronze (if you can find it) might look sweet on Sterling Mist.

No prob bro'. I say, don't believe the hype about the expensive-*** Foliatech paint that some are using. I'm sure it's good stuff, but like I said, time will tell how well mine stand up to the weather. Hell, at $2.99 compared to $45... I could repaint mine once a year for 15 years and only spend $45. Just my opinion though.

i like stuff to match so I would suggest a white caliper paint because it would make the car look clean. A lot of colors would look good on white but white on white

I went with black - a high gloss 'engine paint'. It looks very good, stylish even, and the paint has held up perfectly for a year and a half. Only about $4 a can, if I recall, and took way less than a can.
