Speaker Replacement Question
Speaker Replacement Question
What's Up everyone,
I am planning on replacing my stock speakers and tweeters. I don't have the Bose system, i have the Clarion headunit. Will replacing the speakers require an amp? A few shops around here threw me some bait but i didn't bite. Trying to sell me a full upgrade for big $$$$. Just a simple question, can the speakers be replaced with better ones, I want better response, I know that bass comes with a sub which i don't have. Don't flame just a gee-wiz question.
Thanks

hey man, you don't need an amp. But some speaker do require an amp. I have infinity kappa 6 1/2" and they do require an amp. It the RMS for the speakers you want is around 75....get an amp. Most good upgraded speakers aren't that so you should be okay.
I just replaced my speakers. i used the Polk momo 61/2 component
speakers. an amp is suggested, but with a good head unit that puts
out a quality sound and eliminates the all of the distortion
will satisfy you (for a while). I just happen to have 2 12" speakers
in the trunk. and a 600wt punch amp.

You won't need an amp with most $50-$125 basic coaxials. Aftermarket decks put out between 15-30 watts per channel. Get a nice entry level 3 way Pioneer and you are good to go. Do your window shopping at www.crutchfield.com
