Ebonics Lesson Please...

Ok, I know that a "whip" is a car. But, why is a car called a "whip"?

Stop laughing, please. I really don't know.

I was thinking ...

When I heard it I thought it was stupid also. The only logical thing I could think of was whip, as in "whip lash", fast car throwing your head back when you take off ..

The term "whip" comes from the motion your hand makes on the steering wheel when you take a turn fast, such as a U turn using just 1 hand.

The term "whip" is not referring a slave master whip(as you may think) but the stirring motion.

so enlighten me, where did this term appear in the 80's?

since you cant understand what i meant, i said master p and whoever other garbage commercial rappers POPULARIZED that term...when did you hear some little suburbanite walking down the street talking about his "whip" back in the early 90's?

Listen " CUTIE " . I wouldn't know what some suburbanite was saying, because I was too busy growing up in the streets of the Q- Boro, if you know what "that" means. You listen to " REAL " hip hop huh ? ... and you make a STUPID comment like you did ? Did you happen to sleep through the 80's... Maybe you can wake up now, and stop being such a fool !
