A GRAND for Pilot Sport A/S's??

I called Discount Tire and they said it would be approximately $1,000 for four new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's (235/50/17). Is there a cheaper wy to get my hands on these tires?

Call around? I mean like Sam's, COSTCO, even Sears? Pay attention to ads, etc? What about Tire Rack? It is hard to give advice if we don't know what you have already tried.

TireRack has them for $197 each...plus shipping, plus local mount/balance...so probably around $900 for the set.

Sears had a buy 3 get 1 free Michelin sale a few months ago...The tires were $201 each plus $19 for mount/balance/lifetime rotation. Just over $700 that way. They run a few promos like that a year, keep your eyes open.

You can also try Online Tires they had the tires for $186/ea. You can probably figure about $50 - $60 for shipping (all 4)

Buy them before the bad weather starts to avoid hypdroplaning on the stock tires. I got mine at Sears for a little less than a thousand after all the extras and taxes were added. Money well spent.

Are the pilots really THAT good? I've seen the reviews that love them, but is the difference that much over something like a Nitto or Kumho? Just asking is all, I'd spend the coin if it were worth it.

Having driven in the thunderstorms with both the Potenzas and the Pilots, the difference is very noticeable. Considering the relatively small price difference between them, it is almost criminal we get the Potenzas as OEM tires. Also the tread wear is only 140 for the Potenzas and is 400 on the Pilots. The Pilots are a safer tire in the rain.

I agree totally!!!!

Going from Potenzas to the Pilots on wet/rainy roads IMO is like night and day.

I too complained about the price before i got them but after 2 months/3k mi's - city/highway driving, i'm very happy with my choice.

Get them if you really need an great A/S tire.
