How difficult is it to replace the stock steering wheel with another steering wheel? Can you just hookup the new airbag to the the old airbag switches and bolt the steering wheel on?
I really have no clue about this.

You won't find a shop easily that would do this... it's a violation of some law to remove an airbag wheel.

I think blackmax2000 is saying the airbag will stay, he is just changing the wheel: in the end there will be a steering wheel with an airbag.

This would assume he is (1) mis-matching a non-Nissan airbag and wheel to the Maxima (2) taking a Nissan 2K1 wheel and airbag and putting it on a 2K, for radio controls.

Am I understanding the question correctly?

Weasel, you are probably correct in that removing an airbag altogether is unlawful, since all new vehicles are required to have (or be produced with) an airbag.

blackmax2000,

I took a look at the ESM and it gives a diagram of all of the "stuff". It doesn't really say step-by-step as to what to do.

It is not trivial but it does not look overly difficult, either. It's too hard to put into words.

If nobody steps up with detailed instructions, e-mail me and I'll copy the diagram for you.

Cool. E-mail me and I'll give you the details of the diagram (easier that way).

I know it may sound stupid, but I really do not like the look of the stock wheel and I love the way the skyline wheel looks...so i'll have looks and the safety of an airbag.
