I dont think thats reccomended, when i purchased my tires theyre 245/40/18..my wheels are 18x8.5" I think it would be a tad wide to fit properly.

 

It all depends on the offset of the wheel and how much you are lowered (if at all). At stock height I don't think you will have any problems as long as the wheel has an offset of 35...

 

The nice thing about acceptable rim width ranges is that thinking isn't required. It's simply a matter of looking up the rim width ranges for your tire size in the Tire & Rim Width Association Contour (Rim Width) Charts. Those charts are available on Page 5 of the FAQs. And yes, a 245/40 tire will fit properly on an 8.0"-wide rim. Whether the tire rubs, however, is another matter entirely.

 

I recommend it! 235/40's to me has too much wheel gap with Maxspeeds IMO...245/40 is safe on a 18x8 rim---no rubbing

I think Moda R6 come in both 45 offset and 38 offset. They weigh 27 lbs tho

Stock wheels are 45 offset.

 

245's fit fine, I think with a +35 mm off set 255 would even be safe.

245's fit rims from 8.0-9.0 inches, 8.5 is "recomended".

Yes, but 8.5" wide and 35mm offset = rubbing. I think you need at least 38mm with an 8.5" wide rim. So, you can't put a 255 with a 35mm offest because you'd need at least 8.5" to use a 255.

I have 245/40-18's on SSR GT1 18x8 inch wheels and not a problem.

 

I have more then enough room to run another 10mm's on my car. Remember the lower the offset # the further the tires stick out. The further out the tires are the less chance of rubbing. Am I wrong? That seems to be logical to me. Some time next year I plan on getting 17X9 inch rims with 265 series tires

 

well, less chance of rubbing the inner liner of your car but if your car is really sitting low, that also means that you're going to beat the crap out of your outter fenders...

 

So, which offset would work best on an 18x8 Moda R6 running 245/40 tires? I'm thinking about the same set up.

Those rims couldn't be much heavier than the stockers.

I also have this tire size. One big differnce is that they follow the irregularities in the road more than the 225's. I have had no problems with rubbing.
