HID's or Chrome Rims

I'm trying to decide what to get Hubby for his 01 AE for Christmas. Right now it's a toss up between the HID's or chroming the wheels. I don't know the first thing about what HIDs. In doing the search it seems that the "How to do" instructions are being taken down because of theft? But if I wanted to go this route, where do I start? I called a local dealership and was told by the parts department that the body style for the 02 is not that same as the 01. Well just said thanks, it was obvious he did not know what he was talking about.

Courtsey Nissan has the 2002 Maxima HID Lamp Assemblies (pair) for $998.

Is this all I would need?

What is the difference between the above and the conversion kit?

Any insight on who to contact and what I'm looking at price wise.

Thanks. Stefnee :-)

You can contact Dave Burnette at Town North Nissan. His number is (800) 251-7278. We will tell you all the parts and prices that you need. In addition to the housings you'll need the connecting wires and stuff. He'll definitely go the extra mile for you, the customer, so just tell him your situation and that Maxima.org sent you.

As for the differences between the 02 replacement and the conversion is that the conversion is less prone to theft due to the stock appearance, however, you would lose your high beams. After getting HIDs you'll rarely use your high beams, but I'm not sure if your state requires high beams for annual inspections.

Hope this helps. Hubby's gonna get a nice chirstmas gift!!

I would say

HID, safety and it looks "cool" LOL. Really. I put some on my 01 and love em.

Rims are more a decoration for the most part.

go with HID's....i did for my '01 & absolutuly love them

p.s. i had my stock 17's chrome dipped & i liked them at first but later thought that it was a waste of money & should have just gone aftermarket rims anyways....
