Is yours creaking like a SOB now that it's "cold"?
Mine is!
Plus, my SMC STS hits underneath the boot on 1/3/5 gear. Now, I have to "adjust" it(read uninstall/reinstall) so it's not soooo low.
Just complaining.

I have the top edge of the ball covering the top thread. You could in theory go half the ***** diameter(radius) more and put the hex screw right on the top most thread, so I'd consider that 100%.
I have mine pretty much as low as you can go and it works with the 2K2 console. It just bothers me that it hits, but the only reason I noticed it was because I would get a vibration/rattling sound in 3rd/5th when I would accelerate. The drivetrain vibration was rattling through the shifter to the console. I also suspect that might be the reason why I have to force it into gear quite often.
I plan on "adjusting"(read UNINSTALLING and reinstalling) my SMC STS over the holidays, so I should know more later.
To avoid this problem I bent my pacesetter slightly, however that was a big mistake, because I bent it too much. Now I have to take the darn thing out and try to bend it back a little. I may just buy a new sts. I am thinking maybe the stillen, or the b&m.
I have had no problems with my STS. I set it so about 1/4 " of the treads are showing.
My gripe about the consol is that I must pull up on the emergency brake lever too high, and the rubber piece that surrounds the lever is just dangling. It also gets hung up and I have the stick my thumb in there to release the brake. Kind of sux!
