Attn ppl w/ 2K2+ M/T shift console

Have any of you got an after market **** to work with the boot?

I am thinking of swapping my 2K console for a 2k2, but I am worried about the larger boot working with the ****. I know the 2k2 boot does not fight correctly on the AE ****. What ***** work?

Not 100% sure what you are asking...but I will try to explain mine.

I went from a 2K1 to a 2K2. I have the AE ****. The boot is long enough, BUT, the shift **** hole is a bit large so when the 2K2 boot is new, it fits snug up the ****. But as time wears on, it starts to slide a bit.

I solved two different ways:
1) I have industrial 2 sided tape that you can buy in a hardware store. Its vinyl based. Its thin as about 3 sheets of paper. I cut a small band about 1/4 to 1/3 inch and wrapped it around the bottom of the shift **** so that it would not slide down. Worked fine, but I did not like the boot.

2) Solution 2...I bought a shift boot from leatherseats.com and it works great! Matches my E-brake shift boot! And for piece of mind, the tape pulled right off and did not leave marks or residue. Nice for me!

This is exactly what I am refering to. I don't want to drop $80 on this project and then have to replace the boot. Does the 2k2 boot work with aftermarket ***** like Momo ?

I am not sure...what I would do is measure the OD of the **** compare it to the ID of the boot. The issue is the fabric "gives" over time and will show some slop in the non-2K2+ application. I would ask Ice to see how his is holding up as mine was only one like a month.

Where as the <2K1 models used a plastic grommet with fabric/plastic folded into it to get the seal, the 2K2+ uses a snap at the top of the boot to keep it in place.

If you are getting it for just the boot, you pay me shipping and Ill send you it, no charge. But I wanted the trim bezel more than anything else and was able to "exchange" it due to a dealer service screw up.

I might do that, but the bezel gives it a nice touch so..... ..let me think about it.

Yeah, the bezel is very nice. I like the accents. No rush or hurry on the boot thing. Should you decide thats where to start...just pm me.

Did anyone ever track down where the write-up on this procedure went?

I imagine that it's just like removing it for a sts install. Just pull back on the console and don't forget to remove the scew holding it in place, which can be found in the ash tray/cell phone holder. Basically it pulls out after you remove the screw.
