Okay, how many of you have a Big Brake system? Either Brembo or AP? Im looking at getting the AP cause theyre rotors are 13.5" and Brembo's are only 13.1". The only problem I have is the fact that Ive only been able to find them for sale in the front set only, meaning only 2 rotors, 2 4 piston calipers etc. But i want all 4. is there a place that sells them this way? I know the rear set wont have to be near as big or as powerful, but i want a matching set all the way around. Anybody got any ideas of where to try?

thanx

We're all a little crazy...

I have the money to do this mod and its important to me so thats what I want to do. I dont want the 6 piston calipers, dont think they have them for the Max, just want a set for the front and rear. Not too much to ask :-)

Big Brake kit only works for the fronts... the fronts do most of the braking, so it's not worth getting it for the rears. Just get some x-drilled or slotted rotors with new pads... save your money and buy the aero kit instead.

I think it's around $2300 for the 4 piston calipers.

No one makes a 13" brake kit for the rear of the Maxima. The front of your car does somethng like 75% of the braking.

There was a group deal going on recently for big brake kits. It was being done through Avalon Racing (http://www.avalon.net). I do not recall which kit was being offered. Perhaps you could look in the "group deals" section to get a feel for what the price may be. I believe there were some technical babble in those threads as well, pertaining to number of pistons, differences, etc.

Just dont like Avalon for some reason....

Dont know what it is, but i dont. I am aware, however, that i wouldnt get 13.5" rear rotors, but i still wanted a mtaching set. New calipers and Rotors will work for me.

Not looking for a SC

Wth all the problems ive heard from peeps whove had them, i dont want one. Not utnil theyve had a chance to get the bugs out of the 2K model anyway. Besides, I said I had the money for brakes, roughly a couple thousand dollars. Not a SC which is four thousand dollars plus about twelve hundred to install it. The rims on the 5th gen are nice and why have nice rims but ugly brakes? I want something to show off behind the rims, and this is the way i want to go.

The Ap racing upgrade with the 4 piston calipers offered by stillen is for 1799 list. these are kits designed exclusively for the max. you may find an authorized dealer to get them cheaper for you. I do not know if they fit the fifth generation, however it comes with all hardware:

4 piston ap racing calipers
13" slotted/crossdrilled 1 piece rotors
SS brake lines
Matrix Pads
All mounting hardware

Mine is in the mail.

I should have it installed this weekend. Will post pics in the general forum. They are listed for 1799. You can find a dealer, you know a friend or someone, who can get them cheaper probably. They are supposed to increase stopping distance from 100-0 in 40+ less feet then stock, at least that was what I was told by Stillen. Anything to help my stopping distance, the sc is killing my stock calipers(we do a lot of street racing).

You don't trust Avalon Racing ???? >>>>>

They are good retailer and have done some group buys for the 300Z guys on TwinTurbo.net. I have met them here in Chesapeake, Virginia about 3 years ago for a Z club meet and they are a bunch of nice people. They are very knowledgable about the Z's and Nissan's in general. Heck they even raced a 300Z for a couple of seasons, also their show car looks great. Ask anyone on the TwinTurbo.net forum and they will say the same thing that they are a bunch of great people to deal with.

Well, Its not a Z im modifying, its a Max. Maybe if it were a Z i would consider them, but I just dont like high volume retailers. They f*ck up orders left and right (carparts.com, lol). Id rather use a smaller comapny like Cattman that still answers emails personally, and handles customer service one on one. Thats why I dont seem to trust Avalon. They may be a great company, but unless they start giving s*it away, I wont be a customer of theirs. I mean, its not like they have the best prices in town....
