A Flat BOSE
I have an 03 Max GLE and love the car but the sound quality of the Bose system seems flat and the sub is too boomy. For what the stereo cost and BOSE's rep, I expected a richer sound. What do ya'll think?

What annoys me the most about the damn Blose is the rattling of the cover (I was playing the nutcraker, tis the season, at my 3 yr. old's request and it was fcking horrible). It sucks. The jensens in my 73 Celica were truer than that overpriced, overrated Blose crap.

Damn, add a sub-woofer b/c the stock sub-woofer ain't cuttin it. Now that is sad. Didn't realize the 5th gen Bose was that bad.

Yea the bose was so terrible... i hestitated to rip them out because i wanted to keep my car stockish at first. I hated the rattling so much, I ended up just putting in a sealed box in the rare with 2 10" w3s... Silly thing is, it still rattles, now alot worse! (But only when i have the bass gain turned up too high)
I think a decent system always benefits a car...

try shutting off the automatic cabin noise adjustment (i forget the darn message on the bose display, pvt maybe?) ... using the audio button toggle to it and just just set it to off (i think its set to high outta the factory). it did the trick for me. (the thing was overcompensating bass causing distortion in the mid and treble).
enjoy..

I think Bose got caught sleeping, and many of the other manufacturers have passed them by.
It does help to do the rear deck fix, which can be found on the org, to stop the rattle.

I took out the Bose sub in my 02 now, and just use that hole as a port for my Basslink. I'm still running the stock Bose speakers, although I installed 100Hz in-line caps to bring out the highs.
