Tokico blues and KYB AGX

I want to lower my car with new shocks and springs.

I've decided on Progress springs
(1.7front/1.5back; drop) Most drop available right? any other spring drop even more? I want to eliminate that ugly wheel gap.

Back to my main question,

KYB is better than Tokico I know that, but is it worth the extra money? Interms of long term value? Things I've heard about Tokico's are:

-Not good for lowered cars
-doesn't last long
-Not a true performance shock?

I've used the "Search" function, read a lot about it but want to get more direct feedbacks.

Thanks!

Re: Tokico blues and KYB AGX

Tein springs have the lowest drop right now, 2.2 front, 1.7 rear...do a search on Ice2k1's post and u will see.

about shock question:
If u always run tracks, i suggest u go with KYB AGX, cuz it's stiffer and can handle faster speed. if u just want it for normal driving, Tokico and KYB GR-2 is good enough!

hope this helps

Teins are like $1800 for the set, aren't they? Tokicos\KYB sets are $400.

For street use, KYB AGXs might not be the best choice. I ordered mine from shox.com and had them installed at a local shop. The shop owner told me the AGXs last about 6 months. They are a good shock, but they are for track use, street use will destroy them quickly. I have Tokico blues in front and AGXs in the back on my 2K Maxima.

Also, coilovers will make the car handle very stiff, so get ready to feel every bump and crack in the road. If you want lower than stock Progress springs, cut some coils off. That way you get even lower, and at a fraction of the cost.

AGXs will die in 6 months? I've never heard that before... Damn, I'm gonna need to hear more on that before I consider getting them. Maybe the GR2s are up my alley, I'm no racer

Yeah, they're high performance adjustable shocks. A few months driving over speed bumps, potholes, concrete slab separators, cracks in the road, steep driveways, etc, and they won't last. Race courses are even-leveled and smooth paved. I didn't want to believe the shop owner either, but he had no reason to lie.

not the Tein coils, they are too expensive!! i meant only the springs themselves, only 150 for a set!! Ice2k1 has them, it looks awsome! the Tein's spring rate is about 255 front, 285 rear, so it's almost near stock.

Sprint springs. 2" drop around I have pics on my page, but they were taken the night I had them done, so they have settled a bit more. They run around 160 from southwestautoworks.

Good to know Tan, I'll see what the GR2s run, probably cheaper anyway

KYB AGXs are adjustable performance shocks. i wouldn't say AGXs are really so much better than Tokico Blues. i think if you don't want to adjust your shocks, don't race very often, and want little bit better ride, Toks are good value.

i've had my Toks for little bit over 2 years until i switched over to AGXs. my left front shock kinda blew..not completly gone tho..i've been racing quite a bit at tracks and autocross with them. i really liked the ride with Tokicos.

i dont think the group deal is over yet....man....5 more people~!!! i'm never going to get the springs if "everyone wants to wait for others to get them"....JUST BUY THEM....5 more people and we can save $30 PLUS shipping~!!!! cmon guys~!!! and i thought that the tiens have a stiffer spring rate than 255....they have to be...otherwise, they'll start rubbing during hard cornering....i thought it was like 3something....

Do your modified Eibachs have anything to do with the blown shock? .

Do you have any trouble with lowered spring and Tokico's? and do you think it blew because of Normal wear and tear or because it was "lowered"?
