I think it helps a bit. I got mine from the dealer for $90 the day I got my car. But after almost 50k in less then three years (mostly highway) I have a few chips on the hood.

good luck.

Nose Mask

Had mine on for over a year. Dealer bought for 90 bucks from Courtesy Nissan. First week without mask on, 4 deep chips on hood with mask on, in approx. one yr. usage, 2 very small chips. Well worth the money however I would recommend that you take it off after it rains and before you wash the car to avoid stains or marks on the hood. It's a hassle but IMHO well worth it. Paint looks as good as new except those 2 chips. Highly recommend it also look at the magnetic bra around $45. Good luck. Any means of protecting this thin paint on this car is a plus.

Thanks CJLax,

I have a grey lustre as well and I've heard the chipping is more common in the darker colors .. industry wide .. darker colors just don't seem to take it as well for some reason.

How soon after rain did you go remove the nosemask .. and where did you store the mask in the interim period while the nose dried. Also, did you have to clean the nose prior to putting the mask back on?

Thanks again

The mask works for me. Just make sure you put a coat of wax on the paint before installing...and take it off to let the finish "breathe" once on a while. Dont get scared if you see your paint hazed, just drive w/o the mask for a few days, the haze will come away.

Can the "haze" be buffed out? What exactly is it?

Which one is of higher quality, LeBra or Nissan_brand nosemask? Anyone get a chance to work w/ both?

**just checked out lebra's site.. no '02/03 mask available for the Maxima.... doesn't seem like the '01 bra will do the '02+ grill justice.. not a perfect match.

I have the Colgan Car Bra. It's very high quality with thick padding underneath, but in my opinion, it doesn't LOOK as nice as the Nissan bra.
Yes I take mine off after it rains and on days when I know its going to rain. I'm leaving mine off for the winter too, so salt and slush doesn't get caughtunder it.

A clear bra is much more expensive but worth every penny. Heard to many horror stories to put a traditional bra on my max. I'm very happy with my clear bra.

If you're not really after looks, you could get the magnet bra. I got that specifically for long trips, and i leave it on for a couple weeks at a time. Just take it off every couple weeks for washing/etc.

Your welcome, I remove the mask as soon as I get home. Unclip it let it sit in the garage and by the next day it drys. Lift hood; clip back on. It depends how **** you are with your car and the mask. I keep a rag handy to wipe off the nose. Usaully there is residue from road dirt. Be careful when you wipe it down as to not scratch the paint. Just do it gentley. A good wax job should do the trick. When you wipe it down the residue wipes right off. When I pull up to a car wash I also take it off then put right back on after the car is wiped dry. Hope this info helps. Happy Holidays
