Question about famous Nissan Service

I had to go to the dealer because my car was shaking on the low speed. So I asked them to check it since the car is steel on the warranty. When I came there they said that I will have to pay 80$ to check the car if the problem is not covered by the warranty. WHAT is that suppose to mean? Is that the way it should be?

Sounds like a screw job to me.. I've been to three dealerships for service during the warranty period, and none of them at any time mentioned anything about a fee to check the car. Of course this will probably change after the warranty period.

If I were you I'd check with another dealer in the area to see if they charge the same check fee. good luck.

it means that Nissan will not pay them to look at your car. The thing to do is call Nissan NNA and complain to them. Sure, the dealer is trying to screw you, which is wrong especially if you bought the car there. But it really does come from them needing to get paid for a tech spending time with your car. I suspect NNA is trying to get out of paying for diags on non-covered parts, like alignments and balances, so the dealer comes back on you.

Most dealers usually charge a up front fee around 70-85$ and if they find a problem they use the "up front fee" to go towards the cost of fixing your cars problem. 3 dealerships tried to get me with that fee when i wanted my CEL light checked.....so i went to pep boys and got it done for FREE
