I got my buddy's G-tech sitting at my house but I haven't had a chance to use it on my new 2k2 SE. I'm waiting until the engine is broken in.

I hope this doesn't make you feel too bad, but my '96 T-bird 4.6L w/ cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust did 0-60 in that same time.

You should be able to break into the upper sixes if your wheels don't spin. Gotta heat 'em up like they do at the drag races if you want supreme grip!!

I have the same wheelspin problem myself - these stock 17" tires sure spin easy...

remember my car is a 3.0 and has less torque than yours.my stock 1\4 times are 15.8 and 7.8 0-60 in mags with auto trans.........i need to minimize wheel spin.......i'll keep trying soon....

If you're able to get 0-60 in 7.3 WITH some wheel spin you're probably not too far off from breaking into the high sixes if you can get the launch just right IMHO. I don't know if you're simply mashing the gas when you start or what but you can try some different techniques to help.

You can let a few psi out of the front tires for better grip and you can try holding the brake with one foot while giving the car a little gas with the other to get the revs up a little. When you let off the brake you'll have more of an instant response off the line. I'm not talking about giving the car a brake torque or anything, just a little throttle.

Good luck.......

That 94 mph trap seems pretty high to me. maybe around 90-91 would be more accurate.

the only thing is that those arnt terribly accurate, but none the less those are pretty good times. work on the launch though, for a 15.3 quarter mile time your 0-60 should be around 6.8-6.9

I've used G-Techs at the track and they typically read .2-.3 seconds and 2-3mph too fast. The MPH is actually right on for the 1/4 mile, but at the track they average your MPHs over the last 60' therefore you're 2-3mph slower.

I'd bet you could pull off a 15.5-15.6@89-90mph at the track.

Of course they aren't perfect, but they are great for tracking improvment on your car before and after mods are installed. For a little over $100 you can't go wrong.

Here's an exerpt from their website:

Why is my G-TECH/Pro consistently 2-3 mph above the track?

G-TECH/Pro is a very accurate machine, and the trap speed result that you get from the G-TECH/Pro is actually more accurate than the racetrack. Reason is that the racetrack averages your speed over a 60 feet stretch between two beams and G-TECH/Pro measures your speed at the exact 1/4 mile point.

Yup - sad ain't it. That's one of the many reasons I no longer have the car. From the factory it's rated at only 205hp but has 285 ft/lbs of torque. I had added a cat-back exhaust and CAI as well as under drive pulleys. That stuff helps, but not much. Besides, it's a HEAVY freakin car. It wasn't geared for acceleration at all. The sick thing is that there are TONS of people on the TCCOA board that have dumped huge sums of cash into their cars to make them semi-respectable. Just not worth it.... by the time you have the engine running great w/ mods and such the damn car is rattling apart on you!

No reason to rip on me - I'm now on the "right" team...heh..

Another thing the Japanese are superior with - motorcycles. My lightly modded Suzuki Bandit 1200 will keep up with most anything on the road. All for under $7k. Pic here
