Question about tranny
Question about tranny
you know that sound when you shift from R to D and you give it gas BEFORE it engaged the gear fully...and than you hear that big thump...is that good?
cuz if you put the car in 1st, drive slowly to 3k rpm in 1st gear, and than tap on the gas, if you hear the same noise?...is that good?

lets say...when you are in a hurry, you shift from R to D...and you dont wait enough time for the gear to engage and than you press gas...you hear like a hit coming form the engine(tranny)
so i here that same "hit" when i tap on the gas in 1st gear above 3k rpm....isnt that slipage?

according to FSM...
causes of shift shock from R-N-D:
1.Engine idling rpm
2.throttle position asensor
3.line pressure
4.A/T fluid temp. sensor
5.engine speed signal
6.line pressure solenoid valve
7.control valve assembly
8.accumulator N-D
and
9.foward clutch.
tell ur dealer to follow the FSM trouble shooting flow chart.

yah...i'm gonna go back there this weekend...tell them i want a new tranny, the ride is so awful,
another question...when the tranny is sliping..do the rpm shoot all the way up to 6k?
is slipage also when downshifting?...because whenever i go like 25mph, and press gas quickly and the car downshifts into 1st, i feel like the car goes into netrual first than gets into gear and than takes an hour to get into 2nd gear cuz i think its slipping

You should bring it back. Slipping tranny will delay the shifting or the “gear-in-neutral” feeling u have. Did u have any service done to the tranny? How many miles do u have on it? If your car is a 2001, have u done the TSB on tranny?
I think that "thump" you're talking about is normal. I get it too. Don't shift into D too quickly if you're giving it any gas, you're tranny will eventually wear out. When you shift into D quickly without giving your rpm time to come down, it's basically the same as droping your trans into gear while flooring it in neutral to peel out.

you have to ask them about the TSB. Make sure u have the most updated TCM and solenoid or the re-built tranny is going to slip again.
